I bought the vinyl hose from Penn State (50 ft. for $40). I have the
Grizzly 1029 hooked up to all my machines. When I turn it on the hose
seems to bunch up all together around one of the corners. So, I am
going to add a elbow there and use a 10' hose I had from before. It is
a lot more rigid than the vinyl stuff. I expected to get the other
tougher hose , but this should do. Anyone have experience with this
hose? I already cut it, so no return. Besides the other hose is $18
for a 10' length. So were talking $180 for 100 ft.

Fexible hose is best used for short runs, usually just what it takes to
go from the machine to the collection system which is most often made
from more rigid material like PVC. You can imagine the force of all
that air rushing through a hose with so much built in resistance (all
the folds that allow the hose to bend). That air pressure is pulling
and stretching the hose toward the collector. You might consider making
a distribution manifold from PVC. It will allow more air to be moved
with less resistance and avoid the problem you are having now.

I got the same hose free with my Penn State Collector. It is back in the
box. I tried a 20 foot section for grins. There is way too much loss in
that type of hose. You might use it to hook the blast gate to the machine,
but I wouldn't go a lot further than that. I used Schedule 40 pvc for
longer runs overhead and the $18 stuff down to the machine. Works fine for
me.

I would stay away from it except for short runs. I have had it for
about 18 months. I needed a short section for something else and
noticed that when I held it up to the light, it was full of holes, so
not only does it restrict air flow, it is leaking too.

I bought some of this about 6 years ago, so I don't know if they have
changed it since, but in general I was very pleased with it. I
actually liked the way it sucked down as I used it to wrap it up for
storage. I had cut it into about a 20' section and connected it up to
a single machine (I have the Jet 650cfm collector). Yes, if there was
lots of extra hose between the machines it would collapse accordian
style, but I felt that limited the loss due to the spirals. Bottom
line, I got about 3 years out of each 20' section before it became
perforated to an unusable level.

I replaced it with a stiffer hose I could get locally, mainly due to
total price for the 20' run. (About $25 for a 20' piece) I actually
preferred using the penn state hose as it was MUCH more flexible and I
could more easily drag it where I wanted it. As far as bending at the
'corner' on top of the collector, I found the penn state actually
worked better than the harder hose I now have, which is kinking from
the 180 degree bend as it comes out the top and then drops down to the
floor. I am going to have to add an elbow just as you are doing.

Hope this helps.
