I'm setting up my new tablesaw, the first I've owned, and have a few
questions:

- The bottom of the cast iron miter guage seems it would scratch the table
surface, as it slides along it. I've polished the bottom, but still don't
trust it. Shouldn't it have a plastic film glued to it or something? Or
should I attach a board to its face, and extend the board slightly below the
botom of the guage, so the board, not the casting, contacts the table
surface? The face doesn't have mounting holes, the way the jaws of a vice
do, so perhaps it's not intended that a board be attached?

- Are any of the saw's angle and length indicators useful, or should I use
separate measuring tools? I find it hard to believe the tilt indicator will
give me an accurate measurement, and I have a project in mind that will
require very precise ripping at an angle.

- Does anyone have a recommendation for a suitable dado set for this
tablesaw? I ordered the Forrest WWII blade, and would like a dado set of
comparable quality.

Thanks.

Why not just try a few cuts, and see if they work or not?

Forrest makes a dado stack as well, don't they?

I have never noticed a problem, the bigger problem with their miter
gauge is that I have a hard time keeping it set no matter how much its
tightened. I finally bought an Incra.

I always check the angle seperatly when making beveled cuts. The
measuring tape for the rip is very accurate after you've adjusted it.

I bought a Jessada dado cutter. Two years ago it was something like
$170, and it works very well. Flat bottoms, pretty much no chipout on
veneers (about the same as the WWII).

it's me
