Hi all,

I have a sad story about it. 1 year of use of new Neilpryde 3000 WD
S/STEAMER 3/3 made it "looking ugly" and made me "feeling
uncomfortable". You can see the photos at http://porichky.com/neilpryde
to see. I've heard previously that Neilpryde waterwear is one of the
most solid and reliable, but my case shows the opposite. I've contacted
neilpryde by contact form on their site few times but had no reply at
all. I am curious what watersuit should I buy next? Definitely it wont
be neilpryde, but what? Any comments or suggestions?

Hello

I have a Neilpryde 4000 series (5/3) of 2005.
So I used it two winters only.
The same as you : with black and grey neoprene

My opinion : it's a very confortable watersuit, specially on the arms..

BUT the durability and construction is SHIT !!!!!

I have exactly the same problems as on your pictures : the grey neoprene
is exploding :((((( In fact it looks like it was 10 years old (or more)
whereas it's only 2 years old... it looks like it was burnt.
This grey neoprene is very "extendable" but it has a so bad durability...

For the rest, my waterstuit looks new ! The black neoprene has NO
PROBLEM. Only the grey one is dead.

SO I think, if you experienced that after one session, it's because your
watersuit was not completely new (new but with one or two years on the shop)

Has anyone reported this problem with grey neoprene to Neilpryde ?
Because my watersuit is not guaranteed anymore, but it's THEIR FAULT,
it's a serious default of neoprene quality.....

Bye
Alexis

I know those Neilpryde wetsuits have a reputation for not being
superdurable but I personally have not really had any major failures.
I typically rinse the thing out and hang out to dry, which may
partially explain my luck.

How many times have you used that suit? It looks like it gets pretty
heavy usage.

I agree with George that Promotion makes a good suit; however, I have
seen people have issues with those suits as well. The ProLimits that
people were wearing the last few years uniformly fell apart so I am not
sure that is a good option. Some of the guys down at the beach sail
150+ days and are usually getting a new suit every year. The newer
suits are more comfortable but less durable as a rule. A lot of guys
are going to newer surf suits with welded seams. They seem to hold up
better and don't have the wind chill issues of previous surf suits.

Good luck!

Perhaps can i make photos to add with yours ??
Perhaps we could put pressure on Neilpryde if others have the same
problem...

I am from Ukraine and we have not windy conditions usually at our
location. 4 windy days per month is a gift from the weather, so my suit
was not heavily used at all.

I bought it in 2005 year and it was new model of 2005 year, so I do not
think it could be stored in the shop.

Of course, I can add your photos to the site on a neighbor page, just
send me your photos with text to put. As alternative you can create the
similar page anywhere you like and we would exchange links - this
technique is more effective for Internet promotion.

Actually if you search "neilpryde waterwear quality" by Google you will
see my page listed in the first page of Google results - I do not
understand why neilpryde do not care about it and do nothing.

There's a website started by a disastisfied customer titled
Neilprydesucks.com As for me I like my N.P. shortie. In addition I am
quite happy with my North Race suit, but I don't know if they are
selling suits anymore.

Neil Pryde is the Microsoft of windsurfing.

If you haven't received a response from Neil Pryde yet, maybe you could
email in...@np-marketing.com ... I had a sail failure and emailed this
contact email bucket and got a response within two days.

I should add I have a Neil Pryde 3/4 shortie that I've had for at least
3 years. I use it all the time (waterskiing and windsurfing). The suit
is in excellent condition considering the abuse I've given it. I think
one reason for this is that my suit has nylon on both sides of the
neoprene. I've never felt the slick outer neoprene as shown in your
pictures would live up to the abuse I give a wetsuit.

Sorry, not really a consolation, but I would like to hear if others
have this type of suit with the slick outer material and HAVE had a
good experience with longevity.

I have a Neil Pryde 4/3 wetsuit like yours, with the grey neoprene. I
had it for just over a year, used it maybe a dozen times, and luckily
for me, no problems. Actually this wetsuit is a warranty replacement for
an earlier NP wetsuit where the seam on the cuff of a sleeve failed. I
had the original wetsuit for about a year and a half, and they replaced
it for free with essentially no hassle - I sent in pictures of the
damage to my dealer, and NP sent in a new wetsuit. It took a couple of
months, but that was in the summer so I didn't need it anyway. So so far
I have been pretty satisfied with this wetsuit, but OTOH I heard about
issues with NP sails/masts, especially race masts, so I am not entirely
surprised.

Is there any chance your wetsuit was exposed to a lot of sunlight,
acidic water, etc? Perhaps hanging on display in the shop near the
window? This sort of damage looks like it is caused by exposure to
something, or maybe just a bad batch of material...

No chance of sunlight exposing at all - I dried it under an
sun-umbrella using clothes-hanger when I was on the Black See Coast 2
weeks in June where sun is quite aggressive, in my location (Lviv)
things even more simple. I do not know anything about how it was stored
in the shop.

And I sent a letter to the NP marketing yesterday as Bill recommended.
No answer yet.

I had exactly the same problem with the grey neo on my 4000 dry. I
guess this must be a manufacturing fault but getting a replacement
seems impossible.

I also think it is a manufacturer problem and I think suit should be
replaced for free. I think so, but I do not believe now. This mean
neilpryde do not care about its reputation. Therefore I will build my
site, add links to the same cases, and promote it when I will have
time. I think they do a bad thing not reacting at all. This case will
be much more expensive for them in some time, I wonder why they do not
understand it.

And I am happy to say that my post helped at least one surfer who
claimed with the same case and neilpryde promised to replace the suit
for him.

Hi all,

It seems I won.
I have to say that I was contacted by Neilpryde Marketing today and
they promised to replace my old watersuit for free.
I will wait and post here when it will happen.

Reminds me of when I hadn't received something from a manufacturer in a fair
amount of time (not windsurfing related.) I called them and told them if I
didn't have the items in X number of days they were going to see their 'good
name' spread all over the Internet, and they weren't going to like what they
saw. I had the items shortly after that conversation.

Good luck to you wald,

Wald,

glad to hear you got this resolved... you should not have had to jump
through so many hoops to get this done.

I am web developer, I know how to use Internet in a right way. When i
had no single reply from Neilpryde I've decided to create a small site
about the case and promote it in the Internet. I really spent much time
on this and I consider it has its valuable impact. But I would buy 10
wetsuits for the money I would earn spending this time on work for a my
customers. So you decide if it worth. From the other hand I am not sure
whether all my efforts helped me or just a lucky contact letter to the
Neilpryde Marketing. Anyway I recommend everyone to contact Neilpryde
Marketing (Bill gave me contact - above in the thread) if they have
similar problems.

I think it is my last post in this thread. The reason is - every post
here would raise the visibility of my case as a part of Internet
promotion. I am not interested in this anymore, moreover it would be
not fair as Neilpryde are going to replace my wetsuit. They promised to
replace my 3000 series suit for 5000 !!!
Thank you for all for comments, suggestions, private letters. I
appreciate it very much.
