Hello there,

I want to buy a Sony CCD-TR600, and Marine Park mail order
advertises it for $799, which is about $100 cheaper than others.
My question is that if this company is reputable? Has anyone had
any good (bad) experience with it? thanks a lot.

Last month's (4/10/96) posting of Doug Blondin's excellent "Photo/Video
Mailorder Survey" shows seven "Avoid at All Costs" inputs and only one
single "No Problem" input... that's about as bad as I've seen!

The next posting of the survey should be showing-up within a few days.
I suggest that you make a copy of it when it does. It is definitely
worth the disk space.

Bottom line... stick to one of the numerous reputable mailorder places,
like CWO, Computability, etc, etc, etc. You will most-likely regret it
if you deal with Marine Park. Of course, you COULD get lucky! :-)

I will tell my story that happens 2 days ago.
I wanted to buy TR700 and called Marine Park (MP). Ans they said
they have it in stock. Then he asked my credit # so I gave him.

Then this jerk start telling different story and he sad I don't need
RC time code. He then told me to buy TR 100 or Canon. He added many
shity excuses then he told me to go look at Canons at the local store
then this fucking guy hung up.

I called other places they all say different stories as well but one guy
from Quality told me that Marine Park was fined by BBB $150,000.
I don't know whether this is true or not but don't do business with
Marine Park

The only time I have used the camera stores that have less than reliable
reputations is to use their advertised prices for price guarantees. I tried
to bu a TR200 a couple of years ago from one of those places. Needless the
advertised price was for a grey market unit and it would be $200 for a US
warranty. In the end I bought one locally and sent in the ad to my credit
card company (Citibank) and had $150 of the difference credited to me as
part of their price protection policy.

Thus almost mail order price without the hassles.
