Here is the first issue of SatScan satellite services chart. This chart
will be the "on-line" DB until Gary gets the other online DB going. Please
help me keep it up to date -- the skies are large and things change quickly.
The information in this chart will be the primary information in the internet
DB.

Welcome to the first edition of SatScan Satellite Services Chart!
The chart is based on an idea by Gary Bourgois. He was tired of
his channel chart being out of date and recommended that a chart
be created and updated by the rec.video.satellite Internet users.
This chart will be distribued at irregular intervals, and I plan
to have the chart distributed as often as I can.
This first issue will just list the video channels and audio
on the 6.2 and 6.8 analog subcarriers. Future issues should
include a more complete list of analog subcarriers, a list of
wild syndication show feeds, a list of possible professional
sports backhaul locations, and hopefully Single Channel Per
Carrier (SCPC) transmissions.
Trees at my dish site do not allow for the viewing of signals
from Galaxy 2, Spacenet 2, and Satcom F2. Also, I am too far
south to receive the Canadian KU-band birds. I would appreciate
someone charting those satellites for addition to this chart.
Legend:
o/v: Occasional Video -- Various types of feeds are shown; if
a primary user is found, I'll change o/v to the primary
user's name.
NA: Not Available -- This signal is scrambled with a scrambling
system that is unavailable to the home dish owner in the
United States.
Videopal: The General Instruments (R) Videopal order recorder is
required along with the VC-II or VC-II Plus to order
pay per view events.
VC-II: The video or the channel is scrambled with the General
Instruments (R) Videocipher II system. Most of these VC-
II scrambled channels are available to the home dish owner
via subscription.
VC-II Plus: The video or the channel is scrambled with the
General Instruments (R) Videocipher II Plus System.
Most of these VC-II Plus scrambled channels are
available to the home dish owner via subscription.
Oak Orion: The video or the channel is scrambled with the Oak
Communications (R) Orion system. The Oak Orion
scrambled channels on the Canadian TV satellites are
not available to the American home dish owner.
Most of the Oak Orion scrambled channels are available
to Canadian dish owners via subscription.
BMAC: The video or the channel is scrambled with the Scientific
Atlantic (R) BMAC system. Most of the BMAC channels are
not available to the home dish owner.
LEITCH: The video or the channel is scrambled with the LEITCH (R)
system. The LEITCH scrambled channels are not available
to the home dish owner.
VC-IB: The video or the channel is scrambled with the General
Instruments (R) Videocipher 1B system. These channels are
not available to the home dish owner.
- If both audio and video are encrypted, the notation will be:
Fully Encrypted {scrambling system}
- If only the audio is encrypted, the notation will be: Video
Encrypted {scrambling system}: Channel audio on {audio
subcarrier}
- All channel numbers are indicated with their actual dial
position on a 24 channel dial, especially for KU Band. Your KU
Band channels may be different from mine due to a lack of a
standard KU Band format.
