Hello,
I'm looking for buying a new digital recorder, preferably with a
HD (hard drive) to record and play back TV programs. I'd like
to have a remote control with "jog dial" to be able to easily
skip unwanted scenes or go image-by-image to view
accurate details. I have a Panasonic VCR that does that, and
I'd like to do the same using a digital recorder, or viewing a
DVD.

Can we buy any model, and then a generic remote with a
jog dial?
Or is it possible to use my VCR remote's jog dial with a
digital recorder?
