don't disagree, but other limiting factors for the moment that would
preclude 'pros' are probably abismal, or no sound, and very limited
recording media (time). that said, the bits of video i've seen from the
5d are quite spectacular - but limited. there's no zoom, limited focus
whilst recording, and as above, no usable audio. if the pros want bigger

Thanks Mike for the site address.
As this is strictly for personal use due to copyright then there's not
much different in using music from this site and using music off a
commerical CD. The advantage in this site seems to be in finding music
that I have not got.
Ome problem with using copyright music is if I give a friend a copy of

 My 2 pesos:
I'm guessing that the Micro 4/3rd format and APC sensor cameras including
the cheap consumer versions such as the Nikon D40, the Canon Rebels, etc.
have been deliberately crippled in their video functions to specifically
avoid any migration of the "prosumer" and professional videographers.

How come there is no 4/3 camcorders?
Judging from the price of the olympus pen E-p1, it seems possible to use the
same sensor to make an inexpensive prosumer camcorder with good low light
ability (due to the relatively large sensor) and interchangeable lense.

Ah, but my 42" doesn't appear to have any overscan, so
I get to see all the frame-edge "crud" (interframe closed
captioning, frame edge vertical lines, the severe vignetting
that some cameramen permit, sometimes-decentered
picture...). With Mini-DV, one could easily overlay a
frame to hide such stuff, but with HDV, there is potential

Doesn't make any difference. The "trimmed" video is still there
if you want to move either the "in" or the "out" point. You are
only storing frame numbers in the edit list. You aren't actually
"cutting" anything.
The method I use (and I think is most common) is to set the
"in" and "out" points in the clip viewer before dropping it into

 David,
I use Deshaker's ability to extract information from past/future frames to
fill in the edges. This lets me keep the full resolution (1920x1080 in the
original HD), while not losing sharpness due to zooming. While the edge
corrections are sometimes visible on a computer monitor, they're not

Yes. Back in my commercial-work days, I would often leave
a camera running unattended on a tripod aimed at the "action",
and occasionally pass by and change things a bit (zoom, pan,
etc.) while walking around with a second camera hand-held
(when I was MUCH steadier...). Or, I would take my "pro"
tripod with its great fluid movements and use a Lanc controller
