My wife gave me an Aiptek 1080HD compact flash memory camera. Been
wanting something like that to take places where we don't want to take
one of our good cameras.

The instruction sheet is almost worthless. The camera works okay except
for two little problems I can't seem to find anything about in the
instructions.

1. The sound is very low/weak. There is a volume control for playback,
but that is not the problem. I can find nothing about a RECORD audio
level control.

2. There are two focus positions- regular and macro. Fortunately the
default is the regular mode. I can find NOTHING in the instructions on
how to switch to the macro mode. I have gone through all the setup menus
and don't find it.

There is nothing in the instructions (or anywhere else in the package)
on how to get help. Anyone know how to get help, or about the two
problems we are having?

Aiptek normally include a quickstart manual on a couple of sheets of
paper, and a full manual on CD as a PDF.

Go here, then follow the links to find the full user manual for your
camera, if you've not got the CD that should come with it:-

http://www.aiptek.com/HDCamcorders/

On both the ones I've quickly checked, macro mode is engaged by pressing
the 5 way joystick control upwards. I've never seen a camera of this
format that has a menu setting to enable macro, and most of them just
have a control that physically moves the lens further from the sensor to
get into macro mode.

I've never come across a camera of this format that has *any* control
over audio while recording.

Found a switch on case that switches between normal and macro. The CD
manual on my CD is the same as the quickstart guide. Looking for the
manual at the web site.
