I have a fairly new tv and just picked up a new vcr unit. I can play tapes
on the vcr ok but can't record. Can I use a S-video cable between to two and
get to record tapes on the vcr? There are no video and sound output jacks on
the tv. The sat receiver is in the next room so I can't access the video and
sound outputs at the receiver. So my problem is how can I use vcr to record?

In article <xxnIm.3$ZF...@newsfe13.iad>, w6...@dslextreme.com says...
Typically, only Super VHS VCRs have S-Vid. Is that what you have?

How do you feed the TV now with the other room sat receiver? If you use the
RF out from the sat receiver, then you could hook that into the antenna input
on the VCR and record from the VHF channel the receiver output is on using
the VCR's tuner. You would be limited to the sat channel the receiver is set
to for that RF out. The RF out from the VCR would then go to the TV. In
addition, you could play tapes with the A/V outs from the VCR if the TV has
separate A/V inputs.

There are some wiring diagrams here:

Maybe this one is what you want:
