Any recommendations as regards operators/trips either for that area - or is
there a better location around Skagway ? I would really like to get up
close and personal to some icy stuff since I might never get the chance
again ?
Thanks
if you're in alaska now, it's far too early for operators. it's
still pretty cold on the south coast. you would need a drysuit,
and it's still stormy. when the locals are still on the beach, i
wouldn't be out!
if you want to kayak near glaciers, glacier bay national park is
the place. http://www.nps.gov/glba/index.htm
backcountry permits are very limited, whether you are guided or
not. i would have no qualms visiting the bay with alaska
discovery, who have been the park's concessionaire for guided
kayak trips for years http://www.akdiscovery.com
glacier bay sea kayaks rents kayaks, but you will have deal with
getting your backcountry permit.

Thanks for the pointers Dennis
