Dear Speakers and Guests,
we welcome you to take part in the 1996 International Symposium on
Space Tourism (ISST '96).
The International Symposium in Bremen will bring together the space
tourism community across a number of disciplines. Representatives
from both space industry and tourism industry shall meet to
evaluate the potential of space tourism and work out the
milestones for bringing the ultimate travel product to reality
in the next century.
The focus will be on possible developments within the lifetime
of one generation from both technological and economical points of
view. Above all, the symposium will offer the opportunity to
exchange experiences and to weave a "space tourism network"
across various disciplines and countries.
We are looking forward to welcome you personally in Bremen.

1996 International Symposium on Space Tourism

PROGRAM:
The symposium will be opened at the conference facilities of
Daimler-Benz Aerospace/Space Infrastructure on Thursday, September 5th.
On Friday, two plenary sessions are planned throughout the day.
Two social events and a tour of the production facilities of the
ARIANE IV launcher at Daimler-Benz Aerospace are planned as well.
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy
a variety of cultural activities and historical sights in the
city of Bremen.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Papers are invited on one or more of the following topics:
- Supporting Technologies: status of and trends in launcher
technology, cost-efficient operations concepts, in-orbit
infrastructure, next-generation system concepts, current
and planned programs, requirements and options.
- Market Assessment: consumer market demand/elasticity, relevant
space industry and tourism industry studies, current activities
in space tourism and "high-end travel", tourism as a booster
and catalyst for commercial space activities, potential
commercialization trends, emerging application and uses,
privatization issues and requirements, financing and insurance.
- Space Tourism and Culture: space tourism and its impact on
the arts, images of the future space tourist, societal
effects of public access to space.
ABSTRACTS ARE NEEDED NO LATER THAN MONDAY, 15 APRIL.
Abstracts should be approximately 200-300 words. Each abstract
should include title, overall summary of the paper, including
purpose, primary conclusions and significance of results.
Please include the usual information on the author--name, phone/
fax number, e-mail address and institutional affiliation--
as well. If there are any obstacles to submitting an oral
presentation, we will also accept offers for poster presentations.
