Anyone With Home Exchange Experience?

I have a small home in Las Vegas, Nevada. My wife and I are thinking of
joining a home exchange network in order to swap our house with other
vacationers. We're primarily looking at European cities including London,
Amsterdam, Paris and various Italian cities.

We've never engaged the services of a home exchange firm in the past and I'd
like to know from those who have if they can recommend any in particular or
any experiences, good or bad others may have had.

I did it four or five times a few years ago with Interholm or something like
that. I had nothing but positive experiences from all of my exchanges. I
only did it with Italians though. One of them was in an apartment in Venice.
It had belonged to the granny who had died and left it to a family in Padua
who used it as a holiday home. It was really nice. All the people I had
dealings with were very well behaved in our house. In fact, it was a lot
cleaner and tidier when we came back than it was before we went. My mother
lived not far from me at the time and she called round to the house to see
if the visitors were OK and found all the shoes lined up by the front door
which the visitors had taken off before going in because we had wall-to-wall
carpets, something you don't see much of in Italy. I thought that was taking
consideration a bit too far but still most impressive.

We also went to Bologna, Genoa and Treviso. The main problem with
exchanging with Italians is that they all want to do it in August which is
the main holiday period for them. It is also the least nicest time to be in
Italy. It is roasting and many of the shops and restaurants are shut because
the owners are either beside the sea side or in the mountains.
