Tour from Stansted Airport.

Any ideas for a four day tour starting from and returning to
Stansted Airport, by car? Thinking of staying within the East Anglia area.

Just thoughts - not in any particular order.

Cambridge is nearby and would be a must.

Ely and its cathedral - 15 or so miles north of Cambridge.

North Norfolk coast - Hunstanton - Brancaster - Wells-next-the-Sea -
Sheringham - Cromer with Blakeney Marsh nature reserve en route.
Cromer has hardly changed since I lived in that part of the world over
40 years ago (showin' my age!!!). Stretch of coast is known as the
North Norfolk Heritage Coast. Wells-next-the-Sea is also pleasant to
wander around. A few miles inland, south of Wells, is the pilgrimage
centre of Walsingham with its healing waters - an English Lourdes!!

Norwich itself - castle, cathedral, pleasant city.

Slightly, but only slightly out of the E Anglia region is the lovely
old stone-built town of Stamford in Linclonshire - film location for
"Middlemarch". (Stamford is 17 miles beyond Peterborough). Also near
Stamford (3 miles) is the delightful village of Easton-on-the-Hill -
totally unspoilt and the stone is similar to Cotswold stone (Oolitic
limestone).

Lavenham, Suffolk, a historical town with lots of half-timbered
houses. The area around Lavenham also has pleasant villages and
countryside.

With the Norfolk Broads, old ports such as Woodbridge (Suffolk), the
Benjamin Britten opera town of Aldeburgh, you'll wish you had more
than 4 days for your tour!

to the East, 'Constable country' around Dedham, wandering around
villages - Lavenham, the Bumpsteads, etc., again somwhere coastal
(Aldeburgh, Southwold) - 2 days
