Hi,

going to Lisbon soon on business, so not too much time to sightsee, any
great restaurant recommendations? I've heard about Pasteis de Belem, and
the Port Wine institute, other must do places? Am staying at Meridien
(sp?)

thanks so much,

Is the Meridien that small art deco hotel off of the main avenue? If so,
you'll love it -- we were just there last April. A beautiful gem of a
hotel, with comfortable rooms in a convenient location.

I'll try to look up the name of a nice seafood restaurant that we found.
Avoid the restaurants around the Restadoros (sp?) -- tourist traps, all.

Lisbon is wonderful city. However, if you have time, take a day trip to
Sintra. It's only 40 minutes or so by train, and well worth the visit.

Hi,

Paul, Are you thinking of the Hotel Britania? We were there again in
September. It's perfect in every way.

Leek, You said you're looking for restaurants. We found one where the food
is delicious, the ambiance and staff friendly and fun and the prices,
incredibly reasonable:

"Farol de Sta. Luzia", L. Sta. Luzia 5, in the Alfama District (trolley 28
stops right there) Tel: 886-3884.

Ah, yes, that's it! What a wonderful little hotel. We liked it so well,
that we stayed there again when we returned to Lisbon.

We have stayed there twice (1997 and 2001) and would return in a heartbeat.
We're working on the new Portugal travelogue right now. Stay tuned.

Hi !

I`m portuguese from Lisbon, so I would like to advise you a very nice
restaurant, not far away from Hotel Meridian.
It`s called Taverna do Caldeiro and there you can try different kind of
portuguese dishes and you will be also advised about a good wine. Not
expensive at all !

Here are some links to restaurants in Lisbon:

Enjoy yourself in Lisbon and don`t forget to try our famous cake "pastel de
nata" and our most tipical soupe "caldo verde".

Regards
SK
