" Paul Signac"
-At the Galeries nationales until 28 May 2001. ..... If you're
planning to be in Paris in the Spring or early summer, this is a
superb retrospective of about 90 paintings and 50 aquarelles. This
painter, which was a great admirer of Seurat, was a long time the
underdog of French neo-impressionism. But we can take for granted that
he was, WITH Seurat, one of the originators of the technique known as
pointillism or divisionism. Upon Seurat's death, he succeeded him as
leader of the Neo-Impressionists.
-At the musée Marmottan, you can see aquarelles and drawings of the
same artist, lend by the Arkansas Art-Center-Little Rock. Until May
15.
"Bourdelle et la photographie-l'Oeil et la Main", 200 unpublished
pictures of Bourdelles ways of working. Until March 31 at the Musee
Bordelle, 18 rue Antoine Bourdelle tel 0149547373.
"Giacometti, le dessin à l'oeuvre", a retrospective of the sketches
and designs of the great Alberto. Until April 9 at the Centre National
Georges Pompidou.
"Arts d'Afrique", shows about 150 works, lend by prestigious foreign
museums and African sub-Saharian art. At the Dapper museum, 35 bis rue
Paul Valery, until June 30.
