Lockboxes at Baden-Baden's train station

Oos). How large are they? I'm going to be arriving in town fairly
early in the morning (probably around 8am), and I'm not sure I can
check into a hotel to leave my luggage there before I get on a train
at 8:30 to Mummelsee, where I'll be starting a hike back up towards
Baden-Baden, so I'm trying to figure out what to do with my luggage.
(one piece of luggage, and a computer bag)

Usually stations have boxes of different sizes.

The hotel will probably keep the back for you if you ask them. But you
shouldn't have a problem with the boxes. Just remember to bring some
euro coins with you.
The above is general advice, I've never been to Baden-Baden.

Large enough for normal size suitcases like the ones you would take on an
airplane. So unless you travel with a coffin-sized box you won't have
problems storing it ;-)

The Hotel woul be the cheaper way to store your things, they normally don't
charge anything for it, if you book a room there later on. Maybe you can
check with them beforehand, if they open at 8 a.m. (don't know how far the
hotel is from the train station, but Baden-Baden ist not really that big,
so it shouldn't be a problem).

Baden-Baden isn't big but large and central parts are around 4km from the
railway station. Used to be a connecting 4,3km long railway but that
closed many years ago. So it's best for the o.p to know where the hotel
is situated.
But otherwise there's typically no problem to store luggage at the hotel on
arrival
and I agree that lockers near always can take a normal suitcase

couple hotels about availability and whether they'll accept luggage
that far before checkin. It's good to know the lockers at the train
station are large enough to accomodate the luggage. My plans and
timing are still shifting around, so it helps to know what's even
possible, to start :)

The luggage lockers at Baden-Baden (Oos) are on the platform next to
the
station. Coin operated with two sizes, standard German DB unit. The
boxes are deep enough for two bags, you should have no problem with a
suitcase and a computer bag. If you arrive at 8 and have to catch a
train at 8:30 the lockers would probably be better than trying to get
to a hotel as the town center is a distance from the station.
Mummelsee is 25 plus miles from Baden-Baden. Quite a hike through
the mountains for one day. If you're planning stop-over on the way
you wouldn't want to check into a hotel in Baden-Baden anyway

I've never seen a hotel that wasn't open at 8. It's prime breakfast and
check-out time. You can't check-in at that time, but the hotel is certainly
open.

Hotel have always some form of service or attendance 24h otherwise it's not
a hotel but a hostel.
