Covent Garden Market
================================
The original vegetable market moved from Covent Garden to Nine Elms in
Battersea in 1974, but the old market halls have been preserved and are
now
home to stalls selling quintessentially English goods. The old Apple
Market in
the North Hall showcases antiques on Mondays and arts and crafts from
Tuesday
to Sunday, selling everything from jewellery and clothing to silverware
and
pottery. South of the piazza is the Jubilee Market, which sells clothes,
shoes
and household goods, while just beyond is London's Transport Museum with
over
200 years of history, a café and gift shop. The piazza itself is a great
place
to catch some of London's best street performers and buskers.

tulips, or a vast array of plants, pots and bits and pieces for your
garden.
With its raucous sellers yelling their wares and its cool shops flogging

Leather Lane
================================
Recommended by BBC London's Maxwell Hutchinson 'I live in Hatton Garden
which
runs parallel to one of London's oldest street markets, Leather Lane,
which
stretches from Holborn alongside the Prudential building to Clerkenwell
Road.
It must be one of the busiest markets in London at lunchtimes where it
sells
everything from mobile phone covers to the finest parsnips anywhere in
town.
The traders are above-average in terms of wit, even by cockney
barrow-standards. I love 'em all, and wouldn't miss my lunchtime walk
down 'the
lane' for anything."

An excellent and comprehensive list, well done!
Borough market is one of my favourites in recent years. Great food products
and real London customers.
Some of the other markets have become tourist places selling mostly junk.
I found Camden especially ugly this year, though great for punk/gothic/etc
clothes if that is what you want.
I went to Bermondsey antique market earlier this year and found it quite
disappointing, nothing compared to years ago - have others had the same
experience.

Ditto congratulations. Your posting is well worth keeping. Thank you.

I went to Petticoat Lane a couple of weeks ago for the first time in about
20 years ago.

I was very disappointed - it did not seem to be different from any of the
other markets. Whereas it used to be quite special.
