CHOSEN VOYAGE BY INTRAV TO OFFER PASSOVER CRUISE TO HOLLAND, BELGIUM
ON BRAND-NEW SHIP
ST. LOUIS
The first European journey offered by the recently launched Chosen
Voyage by INTRAV (the world’s only deluxe tour operator to focus on a
full complement of all-Kosher cruises) is Passover Splendor in Holland
and Belgium that departs April 11, 2006. The 11-day experience will
travel round-trip from Amsterdam aboard the brand-new Sound of Music —
an ultra-deluxe, five-star vessel that will make its inaugural voyage
with this cruise.
“The Passover Splendor in Holland and Belgium cruise offers a special
voyage through some of Europe’s most inspiring Jewish history,”
Matthew Shollar, vice president of Chosen Voyage by INTRAV, said.
“Discovering legendary sites like the Anne Frank House, the Museum of
Jewish History, and the Portuguese Synagogue amongst family and
friends is the perfect way to celebrate the Passover holiday. With the
addition of our special guest Scholars-in-Residence — Rabbi Adam Mintz
and Sharon Mintz — guests will enjoy an immersive experience in the
highlights of this picturesque region. And, with the elegant Sound of
Music serving as home-base, this is by far the best way to experience
the beautiful cities of Holland and Belgium.”
Springtime is the ideal season to visit the Low Countries, with tulips
abloom, milder weather, and a host of interesting museums and
landmarks. The journey embarks in Amsterdam, where guests will enjoy
morning services in three of the city’s historic synagogues, tour the
Jewish History Museum and the Anne Frank House, and walk the beautiful
canals. A full-day excursion is then planned to Keukenhof Gardens, the
world famous exhibition featuring a dazzling display of more than six
million tulips, statuary, and other flowers. The next day guests can
tour The Hague, shop for porcelain in Delft, and sample the famed
cheeses in Gouda. Then, the ship will enter Belgium, where guests will
experience the medieval charm of Bruges and celebrate the end of
Passover with a Havdalah service in Antwerp before returning home.
Guests may elect to extend their cruise with an additional precruise
night and/or a two-night Shabbat extension.
The Sound of Music is designed to be the finest vessel sailing
Europe’s waterways. The ship presents a number of comfortable
amenities to make guests feel right at home throughout their cruise,
including a single-seating dining room; a library; a 1,200-square-foot
spa with fitness, salon, and massage facilities; and an open Sun Deck,
equipped with a small pool, putting green, and walking track. Spacious
cabins feature lower beds that may be converted to queens; large
windows (cabins on the Upper Deck will have sliding glass doors);
e-mail capability; flat-screen televisions, with satellite connection;
and private bathroom facilities. The Sound of Music also offers the
option of triple occupancy for families. Built to exacting standards,
the ship is staffed with an experienced crew and presents a 3-to-1
passenger to crew ratio.
While the Sound of Music displays five-star amenities, it is the
experienced Chosen Voyage by INTRAV operations staff and crew that
truly make these cruises special. The entire ship will be Kosher for
Passover, under the internationally recognized supervision of OK
Kosher Certification. From lavish breakfast buffets and lunches to
elegant multi-course dinners, meals of regional specialties and
Passover favorites will be served using Glatt Kosher meats and Chalav
dairy exclusively. And, guests will have a choice of a communal Seder,
a family table, or a private Seder (a limited number is available).
Tours during holidays and Shabbat are scheduled on foot, while other
tours will travel via motorcoach.
Furthering the educational experience are Rabbi Adam Mintz and his
wife, Sharon, who will serve as Scholars-in-Residence aboard the Sound
of Music and lead tours and discussions throughout the cruise. Rabbi
Mintz is an adjunct professor of Jewish History at Brooklyn College
and president of the New York Board of Rabbis. Sharon Mintz is the
curator of Jewish Art at the Library of The Jewish Theological
Seminary, specializing in medieval Hebrew illustrated manuscripts.
Both have lectured extensively on many areas of Jewish history and art
and have taught shiurim on a range of scholarly topics.
Rates for Chosen Voyage by INTRAV’s 10-day Passover Splendor in
Holland and Belgium cruise begin at $4,200 per person, double
occupancy. Rates include nine nights aboard the Sound of Music; all
meals; sightseeing and shore excursions (an $800 value); the services
of an experienced travel staff and onboard experts; departure fees and

are available at additional cost.
