We're taking a weekend cruise with friends in January to the Bahamas and are
spending a long day in Nassau. The friends are bicyclists and we are thinking
of touring part of the island on two wheels.

Does anyone know of a bicycle rental place in Nassau, preferably near the
cruise ship docks?

The only one I know of is Carolyn Wardle (Bahamas Outdoors, Ltd.)
http://bahamasoutdoors.com/ and she is not near the cruise ship docks
(She's in Coral Harbour) and she doesn't do bike rental per see but
tours. She will pick up at the airport, so I suppose she'd do the
cruise ship docks too.

The other thing possible is a scooter or moped rental. Remember they
drive on the left.

Frommers says that most hotels, Radisson Cable Beach Resort for one,
will rent bikes but I don't know if they will rent to cruise ship
passengers or just to their own guests.

We didn't bike there because (although we had folding bikes) we didn't
have licenses for our bikes for the Bahamas and the traffic congestion
was brutal in Nassau. We just took the jitney buses which go
(almost-none to Coral Harbour) all over the island and are cheap.

I was just there for a week. I don't remember seeing ANY bicycles or
bicyclists in downtown Nassau.

Downtown Nassau wouldn't be the place to bike anyway. Too much
traffic and too much carbon monoxide from it. There's a LOT of New
Providence Island outside of Nassau and Paradise Island though.
