Princess has added a number of new innovations to its sea-going photography
program - including a comprehensive digital imaging system as well as
cruising's first dedicated digital portrait studio - making it one of the most
comprehensive photo departments in the industry and giving passengers a
significant number of unique options for preserving their precious cruise
memories.
"Our Personal Choice Cruising program is designed to give passengers 'their
cruise, their way,'" said Dean Brown, Princess' executive vice president of
sales, marketing and customer service. "And one of the most important 'ways' to
preserve this cruise experience is with photography. Through a variety of new
services, our onboard photographers can now offer passengers numerous choices
to capture their vacation memories."
To facilitate these new options, most ships in the Princess fleet have
introduced a new environmentally friendly Canon HyperPhoto digital imaging
system. This technology allows for a nearly endless array of photo services and
items, including full digital processing and printing, custom photo requests
and a complete line of specialty products. This state-of-the-art, chemical-free
equipment enables Princess' photo staff to provide passengers with products and
services not usually available on a cruise ship, including reprints of
shipboard portraits, photo re-touching, prints made from passengers' own
digital cameras, and the transfer of film onto an easy-to-use CD.
Passengers can also choose to have photos made into a number of personalized
articles, including calendars, greeting cards, posters, canvas portrait prints,
business cards, photo album pages, collage prints, panoramic prints, post
cards, and other customized keepsakes. HyperPhoto services are available on
Golden Princess, Grand Princess, Sun Princess, Dawn Princess, Sea Princess,
Ocean Princess and Royal Princess.
In addition to offering these services, the line's newest ship, Golden
Princess, features the largest and most expansive photography department of any
cruise ship in the world. Last month the vessel unveiled the innovative F/X
Digital Photo Center, a state-of-the-art facility incorporating the only
full-service photo studio at sea, enabling passengers to choose when and how to
have professional photos taken.
At this dedicated studio, guests can schedule a portrait sitting at their
convenience, choosing from a variety of backdrops and poses. The studio is
equipped to take photographs digitally and project images onto the center's
video screens, so passengers can instantaneously view the results of the
session. The facility also features a green-screen studio where passengers can
have their image digitally added to a variety of fun scenes, and a full retail
center offering photo products and one-hour film processing.
Princess passengers will also find that all ships offer a complete range of
traditional photo items and services, including professional portraits, film,
cameras, accessories, frames, custom photo albums and folios making it easy for
everyone to bring home memories of their cruise that will last a lifetime.

1) How much does it cost to have prints made from a digital camera?
2) Can they handle Smartmedia cards?
3) When they burn a CD for you, do they use the original image, or do they
compress it? How much does this cost?
4) How long does it take to get your Smartmedia card back?
This service sounds great. If they put my originals on a CD, I can take
pictures at higher resolution and quality settings since I can just have a
CD burned after each excursion.
