looking forward to it -- different from all other ships we've been on --
Interesting though, in looking at the Cruisemates ratings of the Ships, I
noticed that the Navigator of the Seas and, to a lesser degree, Explorer of
the Seas, have a significatly higher rating than the Adventure of the
Seas -- seems a little illogical since I believe they're all part of the
Navigator series --- do you think it could stem from the demographic that
sails the ship, Captain/staff, or just a skewed group of people
responding -- gotta tell ya, I'm not crazy bought the reviews I've read
regarding both service and the food on the AOS -- any thoughts -- trust me,
I'm not a difficult or particularly demanding cruiser, just a little
concerned, especially since I've convinced 10 other people that they'll
have the time of their lives --lol ---

Bill, the Adventure is a Voyager class ship, named after the first ship
in the class. I've been on three of them, the Adventure, the Navigator
and the Voyager, herself. I had an equally great time on all them --
probably even enjoyed the AOTS the most, as she was my first.
If you're ready to enjoy yourself, I can't imagine why you wouldn't have
a wonderful cruise, especially with so many friends on board.
Don't sweat the reviews.

We had the same concerns when we sailed the Adventure 2 years
ago. It was the best cruise we've been on out of 5!

The reviews are just that, personal reviews by average cruisers and
expresses their particular experience. While the ships are pretty much
identical the staff is different as well as the shows. Some ships seem to be
better served by the crew than others. I honestly think it is because of the
Cruise Director and to a slightly lesser extent the Captain, Hotel Director,
and Head Chief and Maitre' D. All crew are subject to change which is why
all ships seem to have ups and downs. In addition two people on the same
ship, at the same time can have vastly different opinions. So different that
you might even believe they have to be talking about different ships!
Reviews are simply guides that should help to tell you trends as well as the
experiences of different cruisers and give you an idea of what to expect,
both good and bad. The Voyager is the highest rated of that class yet my
wife and I had a better time on the Explorer. The "Professional" reviews
that you read on that website are also very informative as that give people
the basics without emotional slants and leaves out the "we went to, I like,
Aunt Minne did" stuff and gives you the facts. Unfortunately because those
professional reviews have to be written that way we highly recommend you
read both to get a real feel for any ship you wish to try. Reading the
reviews is the best way to get the best overall idea of which ship you
personally appeals to you but the final judgement has to be with you. When
you return we would love for you to also write 'your' review and add it to
the list!

The Adventure of the Seas was the third "Voyager class ship built. After
that they changed a few things like the Windjammer on the Navigator and the
Mariner. My wife and I are booked on the Adventure of the Seas for Feb 26,
2006. This will be our 29th Royal Caribbean cruise. We prefer the Voyager
class ships over the Radiance class ship mostly because of the Promenade and
the ice skating rink. We never have been on the Adventure so we can't
compare on to another. I can let you know after we get back. We are
spending two days in San Juan prior to the cruise. Very affordable thanks
to Priceline.com.

The Radiance of the Seas was a lovely ship, but I prefer the Voyager
class ships because of the difference in the hot tubs. There is one
tiny hot tub in the Solarium on the Radiance class ships, but they have
two large hot tubs on the Voyager class ships.
How is the Promenade different? The first ship I cruised on, in these
two classes, was the Voyager, and I did not explore the Promenade until
the last day of the cruise. I am not much of a shopper and it looked
like a shopping mall.

I am surprised that the Radiance class ships only have one hot tub in
the Solarium, on the Rhapsody of the Sea there were two in the solarium.

The hot tub is on one side of the ship and the other side had a snack
area, serving pizza, sandwiches and cookies. Unfortunately, people
would sit in the solarium and eat, leaving food wrappers sitting around.

The Rhapsody solarium also had a snack area, hot dogs and other stuff
that varied accordding to the time of day. It still had two hot tubs
on the opposite side of the solarium. I don't recall food stuff being
left around, but I wasn't on the food side of the solarium alot. Also
our sailing was the Mardi Gras cruise that never made it to N.O., so a
lot could of been different with the passengers??
