HI, We always enjoy at least one visit to the Pinnacle grill on HAL. We
have always tipped in addition to the charge, as in any restaurant. But I
seem to recall reading somewhere that the charge was for the wait staff.
Can anyone tell me what is correct? I am happy to see they have expanded
the menu. Sure hope it will be in effect on the Rotterdam 10/25. Thanks
Jeri

Jeri,

At our age, we pretty much know how to tip by now. Whether in a specialty
restaurant on a cruise, or a high-end place in a select port, or even close
to home - and even if included in the so-called price, we always tip a bit
extra anyway. This makes my wife Deborah feel a bit better by doing so, and
I don't feel like such a schmuck in making up an excuse not to do so. Of
course, service will be the governing factor as to exactly how much anyway.

Likewise, we feel it is not our concern just how the wait staff has has to
split up and/or divide any tips with other personally. That is up to them
and their internal agreements. To some, that is just an excuse not to do
anything, saying the waiter won't get it all anyway. Personally, we reward
for good service. Tipping in this manor may help them out a bit, but at
least we feel we did our part. Likewise, if we are actually that cheap and
need to penny pinch at this point, then we should not be on a cruise and/or
specialty restaurant to begin with.

restaurant if you haven't seen that post already.

Happy sailing...
