Liner Voyages From Europe To Australia (And Back): Fremantle By

Working with Classic International Cruises of Lisbon, The Cruise
People of London are offering two one-way classic Australian liner
voyages this winter, southbound from Piraeus to Fremantle (for Perth)
in November and northbound from Fremantle to Nice in March 2010. Both
voyages will be performed onboard the 16,144-ton Athena.

Athena began life as the Swedish American Line's Stockholm. With 556
lower berths and seven passenger decks, the ship is one of the last
trans-Atlantic liners still operating. Completely rebuilt in Italy in
1994, she now boasts modern Italian décor, a wrap-around teak
promenade deck, genuine steamer chairs and a full bath in every cabin.

The 34-night southbound voyage leaves Piraeus on 14 November 2009 and
makes calls at Istanbul, Gallipoli, Kusadasi and Larnaca, then Port
Said, for the Suez Canal, and on to Hurghada, Safaga and Colombo, then
Phuket, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in Southeast Asia before reaching
Fremantle on 18 December, in time for Christmas. Southbound fares
start at £2049 Inside, £2249 Outside, £3199 Junior Suite and £4699 for
a Balcony Suite, all per person for two in a stateroom.

The 35-night northbound voyage leaves Fremantle on 14 March 2010 and
sailing via Singapore and Phuket, proceeds to Colombo, Salalah and
Aqaba before transiting the Suez Canal for visits to Port Said,
Limassol, Valletta, Rome and Ajaccio before arriving at Nice on 18
April. Northbound fares start at £2299 Inside, £2699 Outside, £3699
Junior Suite and £5299 for a Balcony Suite, all per person for two
sharing.

Fares are competitive with the larger lines whose world cruises all
leave in the first week of January and they include full board, port
charges and gratuities. Single occupancy and third and fourth berth
fares are also available on request.
