I got this in a newsletter dealing with Hudson River communities:

ROBERT FULTON AND THE AGE OF STEAMBOATS
When you Visit Albany this spring to see the great tulip displays, be
sure to catch a wonderful exhibition at the Albany Institute of history
and art commemorating the 200th anniversary of Robert Fulton’s first
steamboat voyage of the Clermont from New York City to Albany.

FULL STEAM AHEAD FOR THE SS COLUMBIA
In an exciting development for the future of heritage tourism in the
Hudson Valley, the non-profit SS Columbia project has acquired America’s
oldest and grandest surviving excursion steamer, the SS Columbia, and
plans to restore the vessel for service on the Hudson River. The
soon-to-be elegant Columbia will carry visitors from New York City to
riverfront communities, allowing students, tourists and residents to
more fully access and enjoy the Historic and scenic wonders of the
Hudson Valley. The SS Columbia project recently received a $350,000
challenge grant from New York State to launch this exciting project. To
learn more, Visit www.sscolumbia.org <http://www.sscolumbia.org>.
