Cammell Laird is a shipyard that has been building and refitting ships
since 1824. They were stung last year with the cancellation of a
stretch for Costa. They have been having a difficult time for several
years. I posted here recently that they were in danger of going
under. Some criticized me for that assessment. Here are the details
that were reported today.

Well, actually a bunch of newcomers took over the Cammell Laird name and
revived it, Ray. It was by no means the original Cammell Laird, which was
gutted by British labour practices in the 1960s and 1970s. One company
(Canadian Pacific) had to tow away three ships being built there in the early
1970s, in order to finish them elsewhere - the newccomers came in the 1990s -
very recent indeed.
They will never build cruise ships again.
