Booked Alaska 2006 on the Sapphire Princess for a 30th wedding anniversary
and am presently booked into a minisuite on emerald deck E726. Can't
really tell from the deck plans whether it is near club fusion........my
concern would be noise at night. Anyone else had experience with this
cabin? If so would you suggest moving to another area of the ship. The
reason I booked this cabin was because it had a covered balcony (don't like
the idea of sitting out with other people staring down at me). Really
wanted E728 but princess upped the price of that mini-suite significantly
probably after reading the favourable reviews here regarding the large
balcony.

First, you are down several decks from any bar or theatre and should
not have a concern there.

Second, the crowd going to Alaska is not exactly a party animal group.
Earlier this year on the Diamond going to Alaska, it looked like a
still life painting most of the time. Cruise director and staff had a
hell of a time getting people interested in most activities.

Hi,

The above is correct although the cabins are 1-deck above Club Fusion
which was his concern. The reason that E726 and E728 are priced
differently is because they are different categories.

If the Sapphire is the same as the Diamond, then the Emerald deck is
directly over the Promenade deck. The aft cabins on Emerald deck will
indeed be directly over Club Fusion.

It's not a location I'd pick by choice, as I'm a very light sleeper.
But, I'm sure it couldn't be too bad, or Princess would get a lot of
complaints.

Hi Ray,

How can this be correct? On the Diamond, the Emerald deck was not "down
several decks from any bar or theater," it was right on top of the deck
with the bars and theaters. I thought the Diamond and Sapphire were twins?

We just got back from an Alaska cruise on the Coral Princess. We did the
7-day north from Vancouver. Like you said, it was a very old group. We had
just become "elite" and we were the only ones on the ship. We had also
booked the following week, 7-days south from Whittier. Well, it was
completely different. Lots of young people with young kids. I don't
understand. That was the end of the Alaska season for the Coral so we had
also booked the 3-day coastal to LA.
I heard that 800 people were booked to Fort Lauderdale and the other 1200 to
LA. There were lots of young kids on the ship to LA.
We enjoyed our 17-day cruise.

It is correct because the emerald deck is below the lido deck and hence
lower than the Skywalkers club, but the cabin in question is not only
one deck above Fusion it is directly above the stage in the lounge and
thus a very high noise factor area. Not a problem for sleeping in in the
morning, but not good if 8pm is your bed time.

Haven't had direct experience, only know what I found doing a google
search in this group before: one person had mentioned that the port
side cabins directly about Club Fusion (the side above the bandstand)
sometimes had noise. However, I believe that was on a Carib cruise.
As others have mentioned, on an Alaskan cruise I'd bet the club is
hardly used, or at least shuts down early.

Personally, I always look for the bandstand, and try to get the other
side of the ship and at least one deck between a club and me.

It's a tough choice, since I also like having a covered balcony for
rainy days. But people looking down on you on Dolphin deck really
isn't much of a problem on cooler weather cruises. Or warm weather
cruises either, actually. Everybody's too busy looking at the
ocean/scenery or sitting down on their balcony.

Not much help, I know. But I suspect any noise will be fleeting.

Not to be picky... but the quote was "down several decks from *any* bar
or theater."

well yeah, but what the original reply did not mention and Ray did point
out was that although not under a disco your cabin was located above one.

I stand corrected by several of you. Forgot that the alphabetical decks
are interrupted by the Promenade deck. Yes the cabin in question is
just above the port side of the stage. More important, most of the live
acts share the stage with large amps.

Pulled out the Princess Patter for our trip last May. Things may change
