Lucia, Barbados, and Bermuda. If anyone can give suggetions and travel
tips, we would really appreciate it. Also, if anyone out there has
stayed at an all-inclusive resort, we would love to hear about those
too....any of the chains.

and other Caribbean destinations. You can also book with them, but
don't feel that you have to. It's just a good jumping off spot to get
an idea what's out there.

you want something small, with really good food and drink) was Eastwinds
(see Tripadvisor for some reviews). I think Anse Chastenet does an all-incl
deal, but its got very expensive since we stayed there. Position cant be
bettered tho - within sight of Pitons - as long as you can cope with the
steps. Most of the hotels on St Lucia are on the north-west coast (north of
Castries); a 2 hour drive from the international airport which many people
find a bit much after a long flight (and the roads arent brilliant). You can
get a helicopter transfer to Castries but we've never done that. If you stay
up there (and there are loads of all-inclusives) you wont see the main
sights of St Lucia (which are in the south) unless you take a trip - easily
arranged.
Barbados is a completely different sort of island - much more 'British' and
easier to get around and see all of. The all-incl we stayed at there was
Escape.
I think many of these places have different markets and not all may be
marketed in US.

The alternative is to fly American Airlines to Puerto Rico and then change
to a prop plane. They land in Castries.

You can rent a car, or use the public buses to see some in the south. Using
the buses can be quirky.

as not the safest destination for tourists. Translation: If you go there,
stick with organized tours or your resort -- don't wander off to explore
alone. For that reason, not my choice (although I have been there). St
Lucia ... I'm a bit bothered by the robberies that have been going on
there lately. They've been aimed at tourists so I find that particularly
bothersome. To my knowledge, they haven't caught the thugs yet. I
personally would love to get to St Lucia at some point, but not this year.
Barbados ... I hear it's gorgeous but it's a bit pricey and probably has
the biggest problem with vendor harrassment. Bermuda is an excellent
choice IMO; however, I would cruise there rather than doing a land
package. You will spend FAR less by cruising there. Bermuda is very
expensive. If you do decide to stay IN Bermuda, try checking out 9Beaches
.. unique place and one of the cheapest (if you can use that word in
Bermuda). Be sure you completely understand what you're getting before
jumping into that one though. Hate to broaden your search even farther
(not sure what you started with either), but what about Curacao or Mexican
Caribbean or Puerto Rico? Just a thought.
Oops, almost forgot ... I LOVE all-inclusives. It's definitely a
different experience than a little boutique hotel but I love the big array
of activities and entertainment, never having to decide where to eat, and
knowing exactly what my vacation will cost (barring excursions and
souvenirs). We recently went to the Occidental Grand Flamenco Xcaret in
the Riviera Maya. It was fabulous! We loved it so much that we're going
back in November and we bought a vacation club membership on the resale
market so we can go to other Occidentals throughout the Caribbean for far
less. Whether an AI is right for you depends on what you want out of your
