A Clarksville mother who was arrested for disorderly conduct last month
after an confrontation with security officers at Nashville International
Airport plans to fight the charges.
Andrea Abbott was scheduled to appear in Davidson County General Sessions
Court today for a settlement hearing, but her lawyer and prosecutors
agreed to push Abbott s preliminary hearing date to Oct. 13. According to
a police report, Abbott yelled and swore at Transportation Security
Administration officers when her 14-year-old daughter was selected for a
full-body scan. An airport police officer was called over to assist and
arrested Abbott.
In a statement last week, Abbott said she was treated rudely and
threatened by the police officer. Her lawyer Brent Horst said he feels
Abbott was arrested for simply expressing her opinion, and that he will
push to have the charges dropped.
We re not going to agree to plead guilty to anything, Horst said.
