Recently booked a roundtrip XNA/FRA, total price was $721,
with _$371_ of that made up of various taxes and fees. Now I haven't
flown internationally since '03, and the total fare is around what I
expected, but the percentage made up of fees & taxes seems much higher
than what it used to be.

Does anyone know how these taxes and fees break down? The big travel
site I used just lumps it all together with a bunch of boilerplate
info.

Someone's got to pay GE, Rapiscan, Analogic, and various other
defense-related gov't contractors for the expensive props they install
for you as you enjoy the latest production of Security Theater at an
airport near you.

The airline web site should tell you. If it doesn't you are stuffed,
because, as you surmise, the claim that the fess are "taxes" is bogus
