Subject: Abu Simbel in the early morning
I have added 20 pictures from Abu Simbel to the Egypt section of my website:
http://www.travelphoto.net/photos/english/Egypt/
Anyone who is interested in this spectacular place is whole-heartedly
invited to have a look.

This time I wanted to see the temples in the early morning light, so instead
of joining the usual convoy, I flew to Abu Simbel from Aswan and stayed
there for the night, giving me much more time to eplore the temples.
Also, there were hardly any tourists around then.

I also visited the sound and light show, but found it a bit too colourful
for my taste. Still, it's a good opportunity to see the illuminated
temples - and the temple wardens didn't even object to my tripod.

good health and high spirits!
I too went to Abu Simbel from Aswan a couple of yrs ago.  I have a cool pic
of the temple from the plane.  In my minds eye I always thought it would
look different (the structure I mean)
Anyway, if you want to post your story and your pics where thousands of
people can see them follow my link at the bottom and sign up.  It's free and

Looks great. I'm going to Egypt next month. Can you tell me about the prices
of entrances to museums, the cruise on the Nile etc.
What currency can you pay with?
Thx.

Admission fees vary widely and can be quite expensive. Two museums that
are definitely worth the price are the Luxor Museum and the Nubian
museum in Aswan.
Both have much less on show than the Egyptian museum in Cairo, but the
presentation is much better - really an experience you shouldn't miss.
I didn't go on a cruise this time, but the Lonely Planet Guide has quite
a few recommendations.
When I was in Aswan and Luxor, I was constantly approached by hawkers
trying to sell cruises - not sure whether this would work out cheaper
than pre-arranging it from abroad.
On the other hand, Internet is available everywhere, so you could do
your booking this way if necessary.
To me it seemed that the Euro has replaced the Dollar as main currency,
but both currencies are gladly accepted everywhere.
I could even withdraw money with my EC card from an ATM without problems.
