Need help IDing 3 3/4 figures...

or very early '90s? I remember the figures very well but not the name
at all, I don't think they ended up being very popular.
Basically each figure came with a vehicle segment that could be used
on its own with the figure, or if you had all figures in a sub-group,
you could combine everything into a large vehicle. I believe you
could mix and match them as well, if I remember right the cardbacks
showed some sort of crappy super-vehicle built out of all 15 vehicle
segments.
"Air Force" group - 3 figures with segments that formed a jet - 1
cockpit piece and 2 similar rear pieces
"Army group" - 5 figures with segments that formed a tank - 4 similar
boxy shaped mini tank pieces and a turret piece
"Marine group" - 3 figures with segments that formed a helicopter -
cockpit piece, middle piece with rotor, and tail piece
"Navy group" - 4 figures with segments that formed a hovercraft type
vehicle - two similar frontal pieces, and 2 similar rear pieces with
engines.
Other than the 15 figure/vehicle segment sets, I remember there was a
joystick type sound effect accessory you could attach to the vehicles.
Each figure came with a rifle/weapon (made of a softer, more flexible
plastic if I remember) and a helmet. I don't recall the figures being
that great in quality and it was obvious they used the same mold for
multiple figures.
I remember they had red/reddish cardbacks. I had originally purchased
them at Toys'R'Us and Target but I remember them showing up at Toy
Liquidators not very long after they had been released. Anyone know?

I remember those same vehicles and the timeframe was about 1985/'86 as I
was in college at the time and first saw them at a Toy Liquidators in the
city where I went to school. Hadn't thought about those things in years.
Going to do some research soon. Watch this space.
