I saw the repackaged MOTU figures and I don't remember Teela being so
fat. I could have sworn she was WAY slimmer and more petite back in the
old days. It looks like she has a little extra sculpey or someting
around the chin and thighs. The face looks like a Teela-tubbie. She's
way too round IMO. Am I wrong about this? Was she always so portly?

I agree that a few of these just doesn't look right. I'd love to compare
them with my originals, but at $11 a piece. I'll just let others compare
them. :)

this is the tale i was told Re: new he man figures....*All* the original
molds
are GONE. They're either buried under Hong Kong's new airport (i can see toy
collectors running out there with mining equipment right now :-) or doing
anchor duty on some junk somewhere. Mattel had to hit E-bay to buy back
original he man figures and recast them and buy the little comics, scan 'em,
and print up a new batch. AFAIK, Mattel didn't do any rescupting on any of
them past adding a little lip around the edge of their feet so they'd stand
up
straight, if you're the type to take them out of the package (heaven forbid)

If that is true, and it wouldn't surprise me, I can see some pretty distinct
differences come up to the eye of the afficionado. Every re-issued toy that
I've known to have used remolding from old production specimens had problems
where things were slightly malformed. If teela looks a bit chubby, I would
believe it. Always struck me, though, that the figure had some pretty big
thighs.

Yeah, her thighs were a little disproportional. So were Sorceress and
Evil-Lyn. But I also seem to remember that there were a few different face
variations on Teela (I guess I could check the He Man website) in which
one was much fuller. Maybe that was the one they used for the new molds.
There were also a couple of different makeup schemes. I'd definitely be
interested to see the reissues for comparison.

Well, I've got the whole lot, and I do plan to open them. Meanwhile, I've
photographed them IN PACKAGE, so if anyone's curious as to what they look like,
I can send you a few individual pictures in JPG format, or a group shot of all
ten. Just e-mail me.

The original issued figures of Evil Lyn and Teela appear to have been made with
the same body mold (at least the ones I have) with fuller than typically seen
on female humanoid figures. Strangely The Soceress appears to have somewhat
slimmer thighs (guess we know what she used some of her magic power on!)
I know that some of the figures were made in Mexico, some in Hong Kong, some in
Macau and also some in Malysia (I think I remembered all of the markings
correctly?) which probably lead to different colorings.

i guess the way these figures were recreated would make them seem to
look more like bootleg figures (i believe that's how some are made).
also, i'm a big fan of the show and it would be great if teela looked
more like she did on the show. still haven't found a single one on any
toy store shelf and these things are selling for crazy amounts on ebay.

Teela and Evil Lynn look the same as the originals except that the
colors are slightly more vibrant. Teela was always round in the face and
always had hips. I think people just are't used to seeing a female
figure thats not muscled and give huge breasts. not to mention, Hips!

As for the Different looks, Mattel in later productions changed Teela's
hair and Armor color. They went from a light brown to a dark brown
color. I remember this cause I went through a lot of heman Figures when
I was a kid. I Would wear them out with all the playing me and my
friends did. That happens when you have a big rubber band that holds
your legs together.

I wished they did too! I mean the cartoon has wonderful animation and
the characters looked so much better, especially He-Man. He wasn't Super
Muscular like the figure was.

Hahaha! I only recently got the Sorceress (at a thrift store, natch) so i
don't have as full a memory of her. I know Evil-Lyn and Teela had the same
legs (but differently colored) so I just guessed the Sorceress also used
those parts.

Definitely. It's one of the most interesting things about Masters of the
Universe toys, in my opinion. I'm not sure that kind of lack of
consistency would fly these days. It's not just the paint schemes, but the
actual colors of the plastic are different. Both He-Man and Skeletor have
at least 2 different colors of bodies, and He-Man also has 2-3 shades of
hair. This might only be in the early figures, though. I'd have to dig out
the box to check.

I must say, "wonderful animation" might be stretching it a bit. But I
definitely preferred the look of the cartoon to the wierd, fantasy-heavy design
of the comics that came out before the show debuted.

Also, I remember it always bothered me that my Man-At-Arms figure didn't have a
mustache like the character on the show. How odd. Of course, I had to look and
look and look just to find one. Finally found him, opened, on the discount
table at Hills for 99 cents or so. He even had his armor. It was a great day.
