Hi
I play in a local league where we get some officials with limited
experience. I got called for an illegal pass because my hands were side by
side touching, but not interlocked. Do your hands have to be interlocked or
can they be together making a single motion? Thanks for the help.

You should have been called on how you played the ball not if your hands
were interlocked or not. They only place I know that something like this
applies is with some of the outdoor rules and the ref should still look at
how the ball is played not how the hands are.

This question must be asked of the league director. Each league has certain
adaptations of rules for the sake of consistency in officiating such leagues.
For instance, many of the adult leagues run by the various school rec
departments still require *bumping* the serve. They do this to prevent their
rec officials from having to make too many judgement calls. Many rec league
ref's are not required to go through a certification process.

The local leagues can play by whatever rules they choose even when they
specify in their advertising that they play official rules. Some adult rec
leagues in Wisconsin actually play by high school (NF) rules.

Ask your league director.
