Try doing it rolling than do about 2 or 3 prehops. That way you don't
tire yourself out doing a million prehops and only doing about 4 or 5
unispin attempts. Or just mount, then hop once or twice. Just try not
to hop too much.
Maybe your wrists arn't as flexable as mine, I've noticed mine are
pretty good and my right hand stays on the seat for the whole 360...
But when you spin try have one hand on at all times, you don't need to
spin with both hands, let go then catch it again. So try holding the
seat with both hands in the middle of the seat insted of how your doing
it now.
It is harder on a 24 but I'd imagine you have more room to land on, so
make sure your trying to land on the cranks not the pedals. Try it for
180s first. But I'd imagine thats how you lernt 180s. So just make sure
you apply it and good luck!

ok - I tried this yesterday and it helps a lot. I changed my grip so my
left hand (my front hand) grabs across the seat, and closer to the
middle. I still can't get my hand to stay on for the whole 360, but
it's staying on further than before, which means I have more control of
where the seat goes, and I can land further forward without getting
racked.

Hmmm - Seat in landings look cooler anyway. I wanted to learn it that
way eventually, but I never thought of trying it now cause I figured it
was harder. I'll give it a shot today.

Actually it's -not -how I learned 180s. I sucked at landing on the
cranks at first. I'd hit the spokes instead, or land on the cranks and
then fall off - so I just learned straight to pedals. Now it's really
hard for me to get my 360s to end up on the cranks - even when I tell
myself to slam my feet all the way in. I'll go do a session of 180s to
cranks and see if that helps.
thanks.

I got it! 'Here it is' (http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=HPwf_TA17xo).
This is actually the second one I hit just now. The first one I wasn't
totally in control of the landing and hopped out of the field of view,
so I figured I'd better do it again.
I spent 15 minutes doing 180s to the cranks and got that muscle memory
wired. Don't know why it was ever hard. And landing on the cranks now
is totally different from the blindly-slam-my-feet-together thing I was
trying to make myself do before.
Oops - I noticed as I uploaded the video that I had forgotten to put my
helmet back on. How embarrassing.

He's still left over from the first round. Poor guy.

I could probably 540 on a 12"
You probably shouldn't learn new tricks on a 12" because it's nothing
like a 20".
I think people have done 900 unispins and quad flips on 12"s :)

Nice man, your hand positioning was perfect.

I videoed some attempts today and now I think I realise why I'm having
so much trouble. I hold my hands right on each end of the saddle and
when I spin the seat goes all over the place. I let go of the saddle at
like half way round and don't catch it until it's the full way round
and it's usually way out infront on me by then. Just about every time I
land on the pedals I drop the seat. Also I seem to jump forward a fair
bit when I do it too. Even when I do 180 unispins I seem to jump
forward a fair bit.
Well I'm gonna go practise later with my front hand nearer the seatpost
but it'll take me a while to get used to.

Post the vids. Let's see 'em. Somebody might have the magic tip that
makes it all fall into place.
Changing the hand position was huge for me. I was doing the same thing
you're talking about. If you look at my outtakes clip, I was letting go
right around 180 degrees. In the success clip, after changing grips, my
hand stays on 270 or so. It made a huge difference. It only took me 15
minutes or so to adjust to the new grip.

I watched your first practice ones and was like he is just making it
harder holding it like that. I have a 24" dx also and it is a real bear
to spin. I just learned 360s a couple months ago and just did my senior
stats project them. I tested to see if there was statistical evidence
of improvement over two weeks of practice. All of the math work and
write up is a bit boring but I made a video that goes with my
presentation.

(there was statistical evidence of improvement btw and the other stuff
is in there to keep it from being super repetative)

I'll get a vid up a few days, but I don't want the sig. The personal
satisfaction is enough for me.

Way to go! Can't wait to see the video.
This comp has been great. I would definitely have given up
(temporarily) and moved on to something easier for a while without it.
