Hello,

The draws are out for Hops's former contest:
http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/draws/index.html?event=MS
http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/draws/index.html?event=LS

Same rules, predict the winner/finalist for both men and women. Scoring
allocation:

Winner Pick is Winner 6 points
Finalist Pick is Finalist 4 points
Winner Pick is Finalist 3 points
Finalist Pick is Winner 3 points

Picks must be from different sides of the draw. If they are from the
same side, only the Winner pick will be allowed.

If one of your picks is in danger of pulling out of the event you can
select an alternate pick, but the alternate is only valid if the
original pick withdraws before their first match.

The contest has had to move once again. All entries will be listed here:
http://rstcontest.5gbfree.com/rst_2018sp_WM.html

Entries must be posted before the first ball is struck in London on Monday.

Good luck.

Out of the starting blocks first with your predictions
or bumped out of the contest first with your poor choices?

Does any one care about this Wimbledon. I am picking both Sharapova and Pliskova to go out in 1st round. That way I dont have to watch Wimbledon at and focus on the World Cup instead. Unless of course Federer is playing the final.

Hi Ivan. I'm assuming English is not your first language?
It seems you didn't understand my post.
I was just asking you a question because it wasn't clear
from your post whether you were stating:

1. You are the first to post your predictions
OR
2. You will probably be out of the contest first, due to poor choices.

Which one did you mean?

I actually went by recent Halle/Queen's results as far as Coric was concerned. I kind of felt that Nadal might get some luck to go his way here at Wim this time around. Now I won't be surprised if I get a big, fat 0 in David's contest. :)

Okay, let's pick four names out of 256 :-)
(Or even 257, thanks to Murray !)

Ten years after one of the most memorable Wimbledon final, it would be just as unreal, as somewhat expected (even maybe "glamorously" by some !) if Federer and Nadal were to meet again in the final...

Yet, Nadal hasn't get deeper than 1/8f since 2012.
And Cilic never looked closer to beat Federer (appart from his perfect USO sf) than earlier this year in AO final... and has just defeated a much closer to his former better self Djokovic (he might join Hewitt, Nadal & Murray for the Queen's / Wimb combo).

I have heard some "insiders" talking about lockers room rumours saying that Federer might annonce the end of his career right after this W.
And that was before his loss to Coric. I haven't watched yet Maylin & Varlet YouTube show, to check if they still talk about this.
I can picture it just as well as I can see Federer still playing until at least the end of next year, to speak my mind !

As usual, I have spent way less time reading WSD.
I would certainly enjoy another rematch : Serena vs Garbine... this can only happen if both make it to the final :-)

So here come my picks:
Muguruza def S. Williams
Cilic def Djokovic

Check my Facebook account (http://Facebook.Xamigax.Info) about this contest, it's a first for me :-)
I'll post a photo right after this.

Actually I think Cilic will be hugely inspired by the Croatian soccer
team at World Cup so could see him going all the way, even beating
Fed/Rafa. If I could I'd probably change me tips but too late now.

I don't think he'll do that in such a manner.

He's probably going to have farewell year on tour, milking it.

I think he'll retire in Basel 2020. Or maybe London YEC 2020.

He'll announce it next year imo.

But, then again if he's still at peak, he might continue playing.
You never know.

Oh, you met Roger after some cones.
Actually I am near day for day 10 years older than Roger.

Had to redo the post (stupid fb hypertext robot had tilted on "rec.sport" on the first one, hence not allowing it to be published).

This morning (before any ball was played, one can check exifs of the 3 photos I posted) I had outlined today "l'equipe" printed draws with potential upsets / big matches / uncertain yet attracting ones.
Obviously the first coming to my mind was that Dimitrov / Wawrinka, and boys it was a good match from Stan despite a breadstick in the opener.
I had also pointed out Medvedev / Cilic, and that too was a match to watch.
Still upper half of the draw Karlovic / Youzhny was another obvious choice.
As the frenchmen's battle Monfils / Gasquet (Richard can hardly play his own game when facing friends, even on grass Gael easily prevailed)
Tsitsipas is also facing a fellow countryman of mine, one more used to future/challengers (but with some nice stats this year, who came out of quallies)

On the bottom half, few other matches to check:
Thiem / Bagdatis
Benneteau (who plays his last ATP year) / Fuscovics
Tiafoe / Verdasco
Chardy / Shapovalov
Cecchinato / De Minaur
Herbert / M Zverev (too excellent net/double players, could be vintage tennis, at least I hope so !)
