According to some commentators it is not a clear-cut case but Nadal
was probably more wrong than right. The replay shows that he put his
hand up about the same time that the referee called the ball out. A
typical case of chicken and egg, which came first.
Did Nadal raise his hand in agreement with the referee who called the
ball out?
Did the referee call the ball out because Nadal raised his hand?
If the referee called the ball out before Nadal raised his hand, Nadal
was entitled to a replay. If the referee was reacting to Nadal,
raising his hand he should not have called the ball out and let the
play continue. This could be argued either way but one thing is for
sure, the referee caused the problem by calling the ball out. No big
deal.
What I find interesting and amusing is the outrage if insane Federer
fans over a simple argument.

My experience as an umpire really makes me feel for Bernardes. People get
really aggressive in sports and do things they wouldn't dare to do everyday.
You think it's only in important ATP matches that people act like that but
last year I made a wrong call and a 14 years old blondie tried to shake me
down my chair.

Petty crap, grasping at straws, deflate other players because Federer
isn't winning like he use to. That said, the whiners will be gone when
Federer retires and tennis will be all the better once the rabbid fans
are gone.

Are you implying that this behavior is restricted only to Federer
fans? You might want to check the archives here. Federer has been
hauled over the coals for incidents far less trivial than the Nadal
outburst from yesterday, by Rafa fans.
