Roger Federer has revealed he intends to play Davis Cup tennis in July
after nearly two years' absence from the competition.
Federer has not played for Switzerland since September 2009, but
following world No. 1 Rafael Nadal's statement of intent earlier in the
week, the Swiss has followed suit, announcing his intention to play in
July - just five days after the Wimbledon final.
Switzerland host Portugal in the second round - having received a bye in
the first round - and victory would see them have the chance to return
to the World Group after being relegated last year.
"I've decided I'm going to play the Davis Cup tie in July at home
against Portugal," Federer wrote on his official website.
"I'm really looking forward to helping Switzerland begin the process of
getting back into the World Group."
-Sure you're not looking forward to qualifying for Swiss Olympic team, Rogi?
Now they are. Did he play last year...
LOL... As if Roger doesn't already have that spot locked up since like
2004 idiot?
Dork, he must play in order to qualify. It's a rule.
Although great that you actually quoted my post. :)
