Oh dear ...
Poland and Finland have been in huge thriller all weekend. I believe
that's one level higher than Britain :-)
Friday Jarkko beat the always nice-to-type Przysiezny in over 4,5
hours 6-7, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4. Kubot, who has been playing great
recently and is already ranked 42, beat Kontinen in straight sets.
Saturday Poland's doubles specialists Fyrstenberg and Matkowski beat
Nieminen/Kontinen in 4 sets.
Today Jarkko, surprisingly to me, beat Kubot in 4 sets. Jarkko played
13 sets in the weekend, 7 of them tie-breaks. Now it will be decided
by Kontinen - Przysiezny.
Wow, sounds like the crowd are getting their money's worth in Sopot --
unlike that infamous Denko match!
They certainly got their money's worth, although they probably didn't
like the final result.
After all the long matches, in the deciding match Kontinen beat
Przysiezny 6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 7-6, 7-5. Well done Henri! At 19 he has
already played and won lot of important 5-set DC matches. This was in
a higher level (higher group level) than before.
Damn. My spelling is pretty good, but I think I'd need to look that one up
every time.
Really? You have been misspelling 1111 for many years and have been
recalcitrant too despite ATP pointing out your error at every slam. ;)
