1. Bad day at the office against Fed; it happens.
2. Pattern of being a chronic underachiever in big events persisting.
3. Talented guy whose hit his top level - about #4 or #3 in the world.
4. Still waiting for the Lendl affect to kick in and move him up a
notch into major winning stardom... i.e. he's still capable of great
things but the pieces are not yet all there.
5.. His mental/psychological issues (maturity and composure) have not
YET been sufficiently addressed.
6. He's still trending and will break through in big events in 2011.
7. He's just a guy who cannot avoid "shitting the bed" [Drew] and
that's not going to change.
8. His inability to be aggressive when necessary is holding him back,
fatally.
9. If he can become more offensive his other 'issues' will vanish and
the results will follow.
10. He's already beginning to regress/he's already flatlined career
wise...

11. He got beaten on the day by the much better player who married his
tactics to the conditions perfectly.

Number 5, 10. I don't think he will win a slam.

Which is not to say that I don't think any of the rest of your list is
applicable to Murray....but there is nothing new in light of todays match.

He has the ability to win a slam no doubt. His next coach could be the
biggest decision of his career....he needs to iron out his head and unburden
those shoulders.

1 definitely;

2 yes;

3 possibly;

4, gut says not, but maybe;

5 yes - with the proviso that they may never be -;

7 possibly, if only I were sure what's meant by that;

8 no, since he's occasionally aggressive to very good effect;

9, who knows, but it strikes me as reversed-cart/horses-type
formulation;

and I'd say not yet 10, but the mental toll must be starting to weigh
a bit.

Generally speaking, I really think it must kinda suck to be him, even
if he's punching far above his weight, girlfriendwise..

All of these are more or less valid, with the exception of this event being big.

LOL. Pedro. Shitting the bed or more precisely shitting in the bed is
something very young children may occasionally do. They are toilet
trained. They "know
better" as does Murray but for some unknown reason they (he) will
occasionally deliver a nasty reminder that they (he) hasn't quite
mastered
basic bodily control and the results are embarassingly bad. BTW, when
I first saw Murray he puked all over the court....I mean he did the
technicolour yawn,
it wasn't a drooly little thing like Sampras used to do but a total
projectile..

It is most appropriate for Andy because when Murray shits the bed he
is obviously embarassed and his mom is angry.

In betting parlance we might say: "I had 6 guys in my parlay and
wouldn't you know it, Murray's at 1.25 and he shits the bed."

I don't think he's enjoying his life in tennis. That much seems
pretty obvious.

One has to wonder about this above comment... yes, we can always over
indulge in psychological analysis, certainly big time sports leads one
to project wildly, however... Andy and his leering, ever observing
mother might be a disfuncting unit WHEN IT COMES to performance issues
while Murray is under intense pressure ie big finals/monster
encounters... could it be?...

I saw Murray in Toronto when he was with Gilbert. Gilbert was in the
stands and Murray was petulantly yelling in Gilbert's
direction, blaming him for not coaching him correctly. He seemed
immature even by the low standards I would set for a
teenager.

And then there were the little injuries he always seemed to be
sustaining, as if he was too weak to handle a tennis match. I've
often thought he and Djokovic are cut from the same cloth, a little
too delicate for a tough 5-setter in a major and definitely both
have anger/confidence issues that are affecting their play. Not hard
to understand when you look at the parents.

A face only a mother could love.

In interviews he comes across OK, pretty candid. I just think he's a
bit of a mental case.

He seems to be getting over all the yelling at the coaching box and the
heights of mope that he could reach at the drop of a point, unless his
current mode is an aberration.

He's past the overt displays of anger, disgust and negativity but to
me he's still a
negative guy who has a game that reflects his defeatist mentality.

Even Nadal gets disgusted with himself and the result of a point here
and there
but the difference is that Nadal is positive going forward in a
match.

Nadal sees the challenge of a situation as an opportunity to excel and
succeed
whereas it looks as if Murray sees difficult situations as burdens
weighing him down.

I blame her for his underperformance earlier in the year, she said
they'd broken up but she was still hanging around tournaments. This
pretty much what Brooke Shields did to Agassi, Wimbledon 99.

Agreed, remember thinking this at AO final. He can afford to mope at
lower level matches, cos he has the skills to hang in there and turn
it around in time, but against better players, it wastes too much
valuable time.

I recall it this way... they broke up last year (2009) and I didn't
see her at tournaments... then I heard they were back together this
year and she started to appear at tournaments... and like always he's
won and lost, nabbed some big titles and lost in a major final :)

Sort of the same old news for Andy...

Yes. Otherwise known as an accumulator. Odds are offered on the
probability of a number of events occurring
so generally you take the individual odds....say 1.25 X 2.0 X 1.9 ..
and multiply through .for example and you come up with a payout
that is obviously higher than if the individual bet comes in. A bit
of a sucker bet but good for a laugh.

When they come in they can pay big...especially if you put in a couple
of longshots and they come in. But really
something of a lottery ticket. Not a bet that you want to put the
whole paycheck on unless yer daft, desperate or both.
