Year-end no.1, fair enough. The Edberg Award must be some kind of sick
prank: even if his delays are not deliberate, they still *exist*, and
they're breaches of the rules.

The gesturing I may not like, but it's become too much a part of the
game to complain about. The delays... to my mind, you don't cheat
unless you break the rules deliberately in order to gain an advantage,
and I'm inclined to think Nadal does not, he's just mildly OCD. Still,
the rules are the rules, and if you break them repeatedly you don't
get the Edberg, period.

pointed out to him numerous times by umpires....yet he persists...that makes

It would mean that fed's awards are asterisked. Rafa could have have won
all the time if he were just nominated.
Nominations are done by some shady group on whose members atp doesn't
want to give information on. neither do they give info on the criteria
who are nominated. Nor do they reveal votes distribution or even which
players are eligible to vote.
This much was revealed when some pissed off rafatard approached atp
asking about nominations and voting process previously.
Only thing we do know is the winner and nominees.

that the bias is towards the year-end number one. I just wouldn't have
guessed it would be enough to counterbalance something many players
have complained about on the record.

I may have said that it shows players disagree with you in their
estimation of his character, I suppose, since your insinuations about
Federer are entirely about him being a "jerk" - understandably, since
he plays scrupulously within the rules. That is not the same thing as
saying the *award* proves it. I also think Nadal winning it probably
means the players think he's a nice guy - for the record, I think so
too.
But the issue with Nadal is completely different: the fact that
players may like him has no bearing on whether or not he follows the
rules - he doesn't.
