Wtf is going on. This new article came out today...I don't speak Spanish,
but the translation seems to suggest that he has psychological problems?

The whole thing smacks a lot of bullshoit. I'm wondering if something has
happened...like wasn't he caught in some nightclub earlier in the year with
some tramp or other? Conceivable that he has taken some banned substance and
is being kept clear of the tour until untraceable...but under the convenient
guise of his previous wrist injury?

Seems as if there is total media lockdown around this guy...nobody knows
what is going on...only some half assed story about him losing his
bottle....or maybe still having wrist injjuries or whatever.

Would be great if any native Spanish speakers here could translate. Thanks.

Not a native speaker, but I read it well enough. Basically, they're making
a mystery out of the following points:

- JMDP has missed 96 days since losing at the AO and blaming tendinitis in
his right wrist.

- One of his managers said the injury isn't serious; another said he would
return when the wrist was fully healed.

- People he's hit with say his shots are as potent as ever

- He has said he was coming back (at Miami, eg) and then withdrawn from
tournaments

- He didn't show up at a scholarship event for young Argentinian tennis
players

- His absence is costing him a lot of endorsement money

- His entourage is generally secretive, and his father controls what
information is released to the press

- If the injury isn't serious, why isn't he playing? If it is serious, why
don't they say so?

The final sentence, which I suppose is the one you're wondering about,
says "As far as El Nacion can determine, del Potro is not undergoing
psychological treatment, but there have been consultations. More than
that, all is mysterious.

I think it's a non-story - they have no information, but space to fill. It
would be completely unsurprising if JMDP has at some point consulted a
sports psychiatrist - lots of them do.

Interesting , its almsot sounds like hes in a cult.

He comes over as being a bit of Becker - he had problems struggling
with his success too , then again so did Kurt Cobain , and look what
happened to him

Thanks Wendy. :)

I'm still thinking the whole thing is most strange behaviour. See what
happens.

Maybe it was before that, we don't know. And maybe the journalist made it
up. We don't know that, either.
