I think she had a great voice. She is Norwegian and committed sucide at 30.

Her voice sounds nice enough. She was no Barbra Streisand though.

Nice enough? Seriously?

I just heard a Barbara Streisand song to do the comparison. Please don't make me do that... ever again!

On a serious note, Streisand comes off as bit of a wanker with her singing... See I have a great operatic voice... see....see... I am a diva... bow before me... She is sorta Whitney Houston like... annoying!

Radka comes off as much more genuine and emotional. Also the music is much better!

I'm talking about Streisand's pure voice and range. She has no equals. There are many who are up there with her such as Whitney, Celine, Donna Summer, etc but Streisand's voice is or was at her peak at the very top of of her profession.

In a discussion of popular music, yes (obviously there are opera singers with greater capabilities). And it does Streisand a disservice to compare her to Whitney Houston, who had a very good voice but very poor taste in how she used it. That woman's soulless warblings wrecked a whole generation of singers who imitated her.

One of the outstanding things about Streisand's voice is that it retains its fullness and power even at the extremes of her range, whereas with someone like Celine Dion it tends to thin out. Streisand is also capable of kicking into an extra gear that most pop singers lack.

Yes, I'm talking about pop singers. Streisand has no equal. Her voice is like silk with power and incredible range. It really is a thing of beauty, like a freak gift.

Yes.

Didn't you post this before? If not you it was someone in rst.

Yes she has a great tone & quality in her voice. It sounds like a Sting
song sung by Eva Cassidy. I like it.

: )

I had never even heard of Radka before yesterday, so definitely not me.

I am write now listening to at least 5 new albums per day. I have been doing this for the past 3 months.

Sting... lol... please no. Sting annoys me. The way he mispronounces and eats words... it is super annoying. I did listen to Eva Cassidy. I like her voice but I don't like her music.

Streisand is definitely a lot less annoying that Whitney and Celine. I also find Maria Carey extremely annoying. What do you think of Radka?

I think Aretha Franklin had a great voice, but not a big fan of her music except may be a few songs. I liked few Diana Ross songs. I think Shania Twain had a decent voice too, don't like her music but she was hot.

She has a pleasant voice, but I don't hear anything that leaves me thunderstruck.

Aretha was/is a great soul singer. I think her delivery and genuine feeling are what makes her music powerful more than her vocal qualities. For example, I think Dionne Warwick definitely had a better voice, but she was pop more than soul. When Aretha tried recording some of the Bacharach songs Dionne had done ("Walk on By," etc.) she couldn't compare. Aretha nevertheless is a titan within her genre--gospel/soul.

I agree. She's the best within that genre. A real powerhouse.
