Manchester Arena attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt

Twenty-two people, including children, have been killed and 59 injured in a suspected suicide attack at Manchester Arena.

The blast happened at 22:35 BST on Monday at the end of a pop concert by the US singer Ariana Grande.

Greater Manchester Police said the lone male attacker, who died in the blast, was carrying an improvised explosive device which he detonated.

Relatives are using social media to hunt for missing loved ones.

Police have set up an emergency telephone number in response to the attack. It is: 0161 856 9400.

Terrible and very sad news indeed. Can't imagine the trauma experienced by the close friends and kin of those who got killed.

My wife told me about this. Horrible. Have they determined if this is another ISIS move?

They always would have, they tried to blow up the twin towers and NY tunnels in 1992, they cause tribute whenever they are, even in Thailand! Blair, Bush and Obama just made it worse and Merkel, Blair and co upped the chances of it happening in the West by opening the floodgates to anyone who wants to walk in.

A lot of angry, marginalized young men will continue to take 'vengeance'
out on any soft targets. That's just the way the world is & we have no
choice but to suffer the consequences.

Nothing can be done to prevent this from happening again.

There was a terrorist specialist on tv saying these 'suicide jackets'
aren't made 1-off, & there likely will be more attacks soon?

Maybe stop importing nutcases to your societies would be a "smart"
move?

It's either that or continue to sacrifice lives of your
compatriots to the altar of multiculturalism.

It's a sad world that this blatant truth is occasionally challenged.

"They" did not try to blow up the twin towers in 1992.
It was another 'they'.

Last nights perp. was born in Manchester c. 1995, family was from
Libya. So, a 'home grown' nutcase, again.

Let's call a spade a spade.

Was it a nutcase or a terrorist Brian?
Please be clear.

Why should we even care about that? Yeah, that could work, but
It's not our custom, let them do it in their own countries.

When Saddam and Gadaffi
were alive, Iraq and Libya were peaceful
countries, albeit under strict rule of progressive socialist
autocrats.

Now you have terrorism all over Europe, countless Muslims and
Arabs invading us, and Iraq and Libya turned to absolute
shitholes that export terrorism.

Thank you, US neocons.

Assad should really go, it's so obvious now. Bad man killing isis
in his own country.

i agree, not easy to stop people willing to blow themselves up for a
cause.

I was responding to *skriptis who introduced that descriptor. It seemed
a reasonable enough word to use for someone who carried out such an act.
At this stage we simply don't know what motivated him, so the terror
label is a bit premature. That said, an arrest was made yesterday and
the nationwide threat level has been raised to 'critical', which
suggests other attacks are likely.

Of course sane rational people don't often perform senseless acts, but
each case is different.

it's the same 'they' - Islamic terrorists, they cause trouble wherever they are in the world - you can't name a place they don't.

Blame Blairite PCer's for this kind of thing, they are so worried about being called or considered racist that they stopped immigrants being called on to assimilate, like they always used to over here, oh no that might be raciss. That was the difference here, you didn't get enclaves like in other places, now you do.

it's obvious why he did it, cos he was an Islamic terrorist and he followed that insane ideology that blowing up infidels is somehow justified.

Also sad that it had to be at an Ariane concert as she will take a long
time to recover & has cancelled her world tour.

Pity it wasn't a Bieber concert instead, or perhaps Rolling Stones - the
victims would have been bogans & older people.

* ok may be in poor taste & 'too soon', but last bit was a joke.
