... rely more on his serve to bail him out of tough situations than in
this match vs Muller. Without extra-clutch serving on match points, he'd
have lost already. Nice job, Rafa!

Can he keep doing it ? Because he seems unable to break serve.

He is just enjoying himself because he knows he can finish it any time.

It's a practice session.

Couldn't...

Bad match from Rafa. But can blame only himself and really poor play on
breakpoints. Muller is a huge choker and Rafa outchoked him.

Neither is a choker. Muller's game will make any baseliner extremely uncomfortable on grass; big lefty serving, lots of serve volleys, no pace and left side-spinning shots. Rafa really struggled with his timing as a result of the complete lack of rhythm and stellar execution.

Rafa's clear tactical error imo was standing way too far back to return serve. This obviously made Gilles much more comfortable serving and volleying and generally using the angles to run Rafa around. If Rafa had just stood far closer in the 5th Muller would have choked first.

Muller was fully 100% focused today, which he never usually is, Nadal looked nervous.

Exactly right Ice... Muller, historically, has been a head hanger and a guy who gets down on himself and just starts BLASTING the ball going for broke. What was amazing beyond his ASTONISHING level of composure - for him - was his point constructions were very, very sharp and effective.

Muller has rarely stayed in that level of a match before, zoning in on an outcome, playing clear headed effective tennis to get the job done, AND DOING SO. Yes, he's won some small events, but, he defied his patterns and career tendencies today, under the proverbial gun! GREAT job!

Sucks for Rafa... the emotion he was radiated out there was almost nuclear! :)
