Why can't she work on her mobility? She has a great serve and great groundstrokes. She should be mopping up the field. May be time now to fire the coach?

I didn't see the match and just saw the score? Did she choke again? She's a headcase. She had a dream draw and I thought she would make the final this time.

Azarenka can't come back fast enough for me.

The players who are supposed to be great on grass are all losing! I wonder if Ostapenko can make some more noise after winning the FO? Maybe she'll be the real deal? Kerber or Wozniacki should come out of the top half of the draw now and from the bottom you would think it would be Konta, Venus, Ostapenko or even Halep or Azarenka. Or could it be another surprise?

When it's as wide open as this you really have to go with the players
with the most experience & playing reasonably well. Sure there are
always dark horse like Ostapenko, but good luck picking 1 of those out
of the hat. Pliskova has never really impressed me. I think her good
results are due to paucity of tough competition. Kvitova is out of
shape & hit or miss at the best of times. I kinda like Wozniacki as
she's been plugging away for a long time, has been no.1 & is still
young. Venus of course should win unless she has a shocker.

Like at the FO you mean?

Ostapenko is an unknown so we'll see. As for Venus, she has the experience but hasn't won a slam in nine years. In addition, she looked shaky from what I saw the other day and she's in a vulnerable place at the moment. I'll be surprised if she wins the tournament even with all her grass court expertise.

From the top half you would think Kerber or Wozniacki would make the final and from the bottom it should be one of Venus, Ostapenko, Konta, Azarenka or Halep. Or can somebody like Cibulkova make the final? Or what about big hitting Naomi Osaka? Who the heck knows. Crap shoot.

No Rybarikova played very well. Pliskova didnt serve as many aces as she should and got broken many times. Her mobility is her biggest problem. She has great groundstrokes and has a good serve.

So Pliskova with her bazooka forehand and powerful serve doesn't impress but Wozniacki who plays granny tennis, does? No wonder you like a poofter like Tomic.

I think it is going to be Azarenka or Venus. And I would hate to see an oldie win again. I would have liked my oldie (Sharapova) to win, but that was not meant to be.

Ostapenko has a nice clay game. It won't translate on grass.

The courts seem slower than ever. Lots of the big servers/hitters are already out (men and women). Seems like perfect conditions for a Djok resurgence or someone like Mugu...

What are you talking about? It's the reverse. She's a junior Wimbledon champion and clay was her weakest surface before. Her game is perfect for the grass except her serve is too weak for the grass. If she can improve her serve she could be a killer on the grass.

Oh yes, I forgot about Muguruza. She should be a favorite as well as Kerber and Wozniacki from the top half.

That's why I said her game is for clay. She doesn't have the big weapons like serve and massive forehand

Did she lose already?

Not a big surprise. I almost changed my competition pick away from
Kvitova after seeing how many picked her - had the feeling she was the
fad which would lose 1st round. Well I didn't since I didn't bother to
throw another dice on female champ.

She says grass is her favourite surface.

I would have picked Ostapenko in the contest if my mandatory Wimbledon
pick Sabine Lisicki was not on her side of the draw.

But you're wrong! She won junior Wimbledon and her game suits the grass well.

No big weapons? Have you seen her groundstrokes? *rolls eyes*

Lisicki isn't a serious force anywhere!

Odds are against it. Nobody has ever won 2 slams as the 1st 2 titles
they ever won.

I considered her, but surely FO/Wim as your 1st 2 titles ever is a bit much?

She will win Wimbledon! I will pick her every year she is in the draw.

She normally peaks at Wimbledon & sinks without a trace rest of the time.

LOL, ok sure, you do that! *rolls eyes* No offense, but traditionally many of your picks have been ridiculous frankly.

She's a nut bar. Remember her crying escapade in the 2013 W final?

Sure do. She was ridden with anxiety. What a shame.

She has the game to win Wimbledon, moreso than Kvitova. It's a pity
these players can't treat these opportunities as glorious privileges,
not something to make you fear for dear life. In the modern era there
really is no excuse for all these mental basketcases. Imo they deserve
to be derided/mocked by fans.

Muguruza!

Ya, keep dreaming; I know.

Well she did make a final here & pushed Serena to 64 64, so she has it
in her. Been mentally brittle since she won FO last yr though.
