I thought Cilic was the next big thing. He's really hit a roadblock
and it doesn't
look like he's going to manoever around it.
My guess is that running a big body around like a road runner is taking
its toll.

I think tennis needs a talented 19 yr old to emerge again. Since Fed
is on the wane and Nadal only probably has a couple more peak yrs,
there needs to be an able replacement. Djok, Murray seem to have
plateaued, DelPo is a question mark, Cilic is okay - good, but
definitely not an elite level talent.
Otherwise, we are in for dull times in tennis.
For all the benefits of the modern game, I miss the contrast of the
old. It would take someone as talented as peak Fed to re-kindle the
interest in the game, for me.
Ya, you have to wonder... he is young... still. his return of serve is
just draining the life out of him, or so it seems... his confidence
looks in tatters at the moment... (and frankly has looked that way for
most of the season, sadly.)

That's a great point... the pace of play and the requirement of
consistency at the elite level is stressing him out... much like it
does to Gasquet and Tsonga...
