As one commentator said a few weeks ago, one of Fed's service games sometimes
takes less time than N's preparations for a single point...

A few years ago, during one of Federer's matches at Wimbledon, the commentator pointed out that his service games were taking around 1 minute during a particular set. There was a Nadal match that day, and he was taking the same amount of time to get one legit serve in play (a second serve). What was funny is that sometimes Nadal would miss the first serve, and then ask for a towel before his second serve ;-)

I understand that for some fans, this enhances their experience (they can see their idol for an extended period of time).

Since I think many Raffi fans have a homoerotic thing going on, this may not be
insignificant. ;)

Continuing, here are the numbers for R2:
Rafa: 35 games, 173 mins, 4:57/ game
Fed: 48 games, 188 mins, 3:55/ game

For R1, the numbers were:
Rafa: 29 games, 136 mins, 4:42/ game
Fed: 42 games, 157 mins, 3:44/ game

Fed *averages* more than a minute per game less than Rafa.
Do note that if we single out Rafa's and Fed's service game times,
the difference could be double - Fed's average will go down while Rafa's
will shoot up. That's because half the games are served by opponents.

According to Nadal himself that's because his game is a thinking game.

Ah, that sneaky bugger! So while we think he's wasting time by excessive
towelling, rearranging bottles, going through his pre-serve routine of
touching various body parts, he's actually thinking .... :-)

Oh, and don't forget that retrieving takes much more pre-shot time thinking than actual shot-making. Tongue firmly in cheek btw.

Nadal's between-points 'thinking' is complex: "hit higher, no?"

The clowns often don't even bother trying against Fed, so it's no wonder against his opponents the games are shorter.

Fed's just thinking whether his agent has made the pay-off to the linesmen or opponent yet!

It is all part of gamesmanship that Nadal uses through out his career, Djoker actually learned the same trick from Nadal and reversed that trick on Nadal to win last majority of their matches since 2011.

Wow, Rafa's brain has really been cooking. Thinking man's tennis on
steroids!
