I have the following choices:
1. Fed v Rafa
2. Fed v Djoker
3. Fed v Murray
4. Rafa v Djoker
5. Rafa v Murray
6. Djoker v Murray
7. your choice (pl specify 2 active players)

I will start the ball rolling:
Fed v Tsonga
Fed v Murray
Fed v Djoker
Fed v Rafa
Djoker v Murray
Rafa v Murray
Rafa v Djoker

Since we are talking about watchability, I would love watching a peak,
confident, consistent, clean-hitting Tsonga against Fed.

In terms of watchability, I find Djok > Rafa = Murray. But even
Djokovic's game is very monotonous only partially saved by some of his
spectacular defensive skills.

Federer vs any of the other top three but my order of preference would
be:

1) Fed vs Rafa

Then many notches below would be:

2) Fed vs Djokovic or,
3) Fed vs Murray

But there is no question Fed vs Rafa is box office stuff and the other
match-ups don't compare for me.

The reasons are interesting to me. I prefer Fed v Tsonga
for the same reasons as Arnab - Genius v Attacking,
clean-hitter with a big game. I agree with you in that all
choices involving Fed are above those not involving him.
I personally find Murray's game more appealing than
either Djoker's or Rafa's, the pace of Rafa & Djoker's
game is a major turn-off for me. That's why Rafa v Djoker
is at the bottom of the pile for me. As Whisper wrote
in some thread, "I don't want to see the same point
repeated for six hours", esp at the soporofic pace.

Federer vs. anyone is better than any slam final w/o Fed. My choices
are identical to Dave's above. Fed vs. Rafa is tedious and
predictable, though the first set can sometimes be brilliant play from
Roger (then he folds). Watching Nadal abuse Fed's BH for 3-4 hours
with the resulting UE is hardly edifying. Possibly it is for Nadal
fans, but it still is boring tennis.

The reason I like Federer/Nadal matches the most is due to the fact
that both players are as different as can be in every single way. You
get such a huge contrast in style of play, personality, etc. etc.

Even though I know Nadal is normally the winner in that match-up at
slams, and it is almost like clockwork in terms of what will happen--
i.e. Federer starts off strong, takes the lead and then falters
mentally and tactically as soon as Nadal gets a few shots back that
nobody else on tour would, I still find the marquee value of that
match-up second to none. They are both big stars with a lot of
charisma, and since I watch tennis for entertainment value as well as
for the tennis itself, that is a big draw for me.

Djokovic and Murray have their interesting assets but in terms of star
power? They are like two ants compared to Federer and Nadal. No matter
how hard they try, they just don't have that "it"quality like Federer
and Nadal. You either have it or you don't.

C'mon bob, you know most of us like to see good
tennis irresp of our favourites. I am sure you loved
Sampras v Fed at W although Fed won - it
was scintillating tennis. My nightmare GS finals
have been Rafa v Djoker at AO, Borg v Lendl at
FO, Lendl v Wilander at USO (both of them) &
Sampras v Ivanisevic at W. At least the last one
didn't take an eternity like the other ones. (I have
only listed finals between two 'greats' - not the
Gaudio-Coria types.)

i think it's more than just good tennis though. djok/nadal play very
good tennis, but we also want to see stark contrast and variety.

lilke lakers/celtics of 80s for ex.

like i said, you crave a great contrast. something the surfaces and
top 3 have robbed of us for about 7+ yrs.
