Muzz played an awful match, patchy and inconsistent. Broken loads,
couldn't make a first - serve. Yet still only dropped 7 games.

grabbed his hamstring in the 3rd set, hopefully nothing serious.

Exactly. What's the gap between Roger and anyone else? 17 slams
compared to:

Djoker: 5 slams
Nadal: 11 slams
Muzz: Um... a big fat zero. Which ain't changing anytime soon (like
never). So sorry.

Yes it was rather sneaky of ProfX to slip Murray into the 'top' like
that.
If there is such a huge gap between Murray and the rest, just think
how big the gap is between Federer and the rest!

Can anyone name a match where Murray hasn't grabbed his hamstring,
calf, stomach, forearm, ankle or foot during a match?

No takers?

Didn't think so.

The only time he never grabs an appendage is when he's playing someone
outside the top 30 and he's up 6-2, 5-2.

Hey Uly, obviously ProfX and bob know this and were simply joking.

Good to hear, Bob. That means Andy won't even make it to the semis to
bother Roger. Ivan needs to administer an ass whoopin' to that Brit
git.

Correct. It's also an attempt to take away the opponent's rhythm and momentum. Much like Rafa being bothered by his knees whenever he's in trouble. They're basically always degrading their opponents by suggesting they can't possibly be struggling against them while fully fit... It's gamesmanship.

At the biggest tournament of all.

Can Federer win less than 7 games in the semis this year. I think Muzz
will probably bagel and breadstick him here this year.

wow you guys really are scared of Murray making the semis.

What will you do if he whoops roger 6-2 6-1 6-4 again..... remember
before the olympics you were on about how great Roger was again...
then BANG

now after Cinci you are still doing the same things.... then BANG.

10-8 to the Muzz.

Just promise that you Muzz divers will all go back to sleep when Fed
once again blitzes Andy's ass at a slam.

Yawn.

Fed's whole problem is this year's Australian Open vs Nadal. Nadal won
in a decisive four. The Fedfans want to erase this from history.

why ? it was a watershed event. Rafa will never beat Fed in a slam
again.

I find that if one stops running about the boat so much, it is much easier
to keep an even keel.....ya know what I mean? :)) Only weeks ago you had
written "the Muzz" off as a no slam winner....just pay heed to the more
wisened heads around here: Murray seems to have found the path (or *a*
path)....but the road to glory is still long....and Murray has a sore
leg....and his gps is broken. If he gets his shizzle together, there is
every chance he can make it....but there are no guarantees....even for Muzz
v1.86.

Does Murray ever complete a match without clutching at his leg or his
back as if he
will need an ambulance at any moment?

I think Murray should become a soccer player. He's got the 'writhing
in agony' thing
down perfectly.

Most win their first slams before 25. He has USO and AO as last
chances.

Most do. But there's no 'expiry date' stamped on his forehead.

Murray's problem is not that he's a notch below Federer, Nadal and
Djokovic..that's a given...the stars
can sometimes align and eliminate these guys...his problem is that he
isn't consistently
better than the other guys in the top10....so he has a good chance of
getting whacked
in any tournament.

ummmm hasn't Murray made the semis of better of like 8 of the last 9
slams or something. I mean Murrays losses since 2010 in slams off the
top of my head. Only one real disappointment against Wawrinka at USO
2010, so he is basically only losing to nadal/fed and djoker other
than at FO.

Moreover if you actually looked at tour win% Murray is like at no.6/7
all-time amongst pro players for his win record vs the top 10 which
was posted here a while ago.

So you are really VERY very wrong on this occassion ... sorry :-(

2012
Wimbledon - Federer --- final
French Open --- Ferrer ---- quarter final
AO ---- Djokovic --- Semifinal

2011
USO ---- Nadal semifinal
Wimby ----- Nadal Semifinal
FO ----- Nadal Semifinal
AO ----- Djokovic Final

2010
USO ----- 3rd Round Wawrinka
WIMBY --- SF Nadal
FO ---- 4th rnd Berdych
AO ----- Final Federer

He's getting deep in the majors lately to his credit. But he gets
into adventures in his
mid-twenties with lower ranked guys. He's making hard work of it as
if he's almost past
it, like Federer. At this point in his career....if he's really a
force he should be tearing up the
joint...not hoping for a break.

Why doesn't the French open count? He has only faced top 10 players (outwith
the top 3) on 3 occassions in slams during your stated period iirc.....and
he lost 2 from 3 of them. So Drew isn't strictly wrong.

I think what Drew is saying though is that Murray isn't yet great at
cruising through draws in a way that plants his flag as an
"almost-certain"....he gets himself in countless funks during matches with
journeymen, which at once make them believe and try harder, and erode
Murray's energy and resolve. Hopefully he is picking that up now....but we
should know more by the WTF.
