Nadal should seriously consider retiring from the game

Walk away now as a champ or limp away in two years. This is not a guy
who enjoys pain.
This is not Connors who played until 40, proudly walking away bloodied
and beaten with
a blown engine and four flat tires. Some guys seem to love the pain.
Not Nadal. The upside
for him is just not there anymore.

Yeah, he lost at Wimbledon 2nd round to a guy on fire. Certainly a
reason to quit the race for #1 and not playing Olympics+USO.

Great work, Sherlock.

It's amazing anyone puts any stock in the "Hoffa's synbdrome" story. I
never believed he was injured in '09 and I don't remotely believe he's
injured now. Rafa's injury in '09 was "Soderling-itis" and his injury
in 2012 is "Rosol-itis." Nothing more and nothing less.

I will believe he has any knee injuries only when he has surgery. That
will never happen because whatever issues he has with his knees are
trifling. Players with legitimate medical issues while playing provide
proof of these injuries. An example would be Andre getting cortisone
shots in 2004-2005 before going on court. What medical proof has the
Nadal camp issued for this "Hoffa's syndrome?"

Nada.

?????

Did he look like he was in pain when he pummelled Djokovic at the FO?
Nadal's team is blowing this whole thing out of proportion. Have you
ever seen a player's "injuries" correspond exactly to the changes in
surface on tour the way Nadal's injuries do? Why is he perfect for
every clay tournament and "injured" for non-clay tournaments only?
What kind of person has an "injury" that he can turn on and off
depending on what part of the season he is in?

Nadal will be back either at the DC this year on clay or at the AO
2013 running around like a jack rabbit. He is NOT done winning slams
and if he is and has a real serious injury where he can no longer
play, I would be shocked!

"Did he look like he was in pain when he pummelled Djokovic at the
FO?"

Of course not, and Courty again hits the nail on the head. When has
Nadal ever been "injured" during the clay season?

Never.

This entire year has been a mendacious farce from the Nadal camp,
orchestrated probably in the waning stages of 2011. They began the
year by announcing Rafa was sitting in a chair in Australia and felt
his knee pop. Then Rafa announced prior to the AO that he was
"injured" and would sit out all of February (though he still played
multiple exos during that "injury" month). Never mind that he played a
boring six-hour grindfest in Australia which would have exposed any
injury to a glaring and unforgiving light.

He was "injured" again in Miami. But then, lo and behold, the hobbled
clay master miraculously and suddenly swept the entire clay season and
lost about 2 sets on dirt in the process.

Did Nadal look hurt in Halle? No. Did he look hurt against Rosol? NO.
He is not "hurt." He is not injured. Whatever issues he has to make
him sick of playing tennis has nothing to do with his body. Can't
believe so many tennis fans are this gullible.

Nadal will be back in 2013 and win everything on dirt once again.

I am sorry TT but if Nadal really had all of these serious conditions
that he has claimed there is no way he could compete the way he does.
Listen to people who have had tendonitis, they will tell you they
could hardly walk let alone compete the way Nadal does. Now he says
that the injury of the tendons from before is perfect. How does
tendonitis magically heal? Isn't it chronic?

Cotorro, who has been the Mallorcan's doctor since he was 14 years old,
explained that the Haffa's Syndrome Nadal is suffering from is an
"inflammation of the fat tissue" behind the patellar tendon and that it
is "part of the tendinitis" the player has had in the past.

Only a complete adoring fan could believe that BS. If he had these
serious knee conditions he could not compete the way he does. Ask any
doctor. I am not saying he does not have any knee issues, I am saying
they cannot possibly be as serious as he says they are given the way
he competes.

That is the problem. You don't get a truthful answer from anybody in
the Nadal camp re Nadal's injuries. Not only that, you get
contradictory answers from the same individuals on different days. I
have never seen such a PR horror show in my life. If these people in
the Nadal camp were ever on trial they would be blown away and exposed
by their inconsistent statements.

Personally, I believe that the real Rafa is a pussy when it comes to
pain. He complained about
the injections he had as treatment for the knees as if it was
abdominal surgery without anaesthetic.
When he has a problem on court he wimps out with injury time outs or
he drops out completely.

Some people can't handle pain. It's nothing to be ashamed of. We all
have our sensitivities.

It's not Rafa's pain tolerance, it's his molly-coddled background. He
was born to a rich, privileged family and tennis was just gravy to him
and his family. In fairness, this is true for 98% of pro tennis
players. The Williams sistahs are a notorious exception to a nearly
universal rule.

Nadal has been pampered and egregiously spoiled his entire life and
now can't take "pain" which any normal person experiences during a
routine root canal. Expecting Nadal to handle everyday situations with
the remotest semblance of normalcy is like expecting Paris Hilton or
Prince William to suddenly turn in a job application to the copper
mines in Kazakhstan.

I think you've got it right. I've heard some people say that the
greatest gift they've
had was growing up poor....I'm not sure I'd trade a blue collar
upbringing for poverty
but I've seen how useless some rich people can be.

Rafa has the image of a tough guy but he drops pretty fast when he's
presented with
discomfort and difficulty. That's not to deny that he's got
pain....but it looks to me that he's never really
done anything in his life that wasn't at least 90% fun....that's why I
see him dropping fast now.

Your post is a load of bs as usual. Have to give points for copper mines
of Kazakhstan though.

Rafa is nothing like a spoiled brat, he's a fighter and a warrior. If
you want to find an example in tennis then that would be Gulbis...

And Drew, you don't have a clue about someone else's pain tolerance
unless you walk in their shoes. We know now that Rafa has played several
months with this injury - and websites say that Hoffa's is extremely
painful, that fat pad is the most sensitive area in your knee. So the
logical conclusion would be opposite from yours.

Yeah, drew is 100% right. Rafa is a spoiled kid with no pain
tolerance. Worse yet, since Rosol exposed him as a pussy, he's
embarrassed to walk on court.

And actually, Dave, Sparta did have a few like this. They ran home

I have only spoken the truth. Many others here know this is the case,
so I don't understand the rancor.

Incidentally, an apostrophe should only be used with "it" as a
substitute for "it is" and never to indicate possession. A common

Don't let the truthsayers get to you. Nadal will erase the ignominy of
the Rosol loss that he compounded with his whining and whinging and

Big difference between 26 and 40, and two months from last slam and nine years.
This idea is a bit absurd, akin to all the people wishing Federer would retire, while
